Finding lost application install keys is quick and simple with this handy executable, a complete rewrite of a well-received earlier version. Keyfinder Thing's simple, easy-to-understand interface has Wizard-like efficiency. This application quickly scans your system registry for 90 supported software titles and displays product names and icons in the result window. Single-button clicks copy all keys to either a text or HTML file. While an earlier version found software keys in addition to the ones supported, this version covered only 90 specified titles. Network searches are no longer available, but program search speed has greatly improved. All users can easily use and benefit from this freeware, but network administrators will find it an important part of their toolbox.

KeyFinder Thing is a simple utility to retrieve the Serial numbers or CD Keys of Microsoft software installed on your system. It includes options to export the list of found keys and a search option to find keys not included by default.

Free. Very easy to use, highly recommended for Microsoft products.

Does not find keys to very many programs. You have to buy other software for more programs, which is okay if you only want the Microsoft keys.

Summary
I almost got rid of my $50 game because it wouldn't recognize the key any more. Somehow it had changed and added a digit to the end of the product key on the box(i know,weird)but keyfinder grabbed it and showed it in its new form. People need to be paid for this excellent little program.

I was looking for a product to back up all of my licenses. This was just too limited. after using about six different products i finnally got most of them the remainder I gained through my venders.

Small, fast execution, does what it says -- retrieves your product ID from an installed Microsoft application, plus a few others.
Cons
Actually, very few gripes with the product. I downloaded and tried four or five others, and this one was very satisfactory. The interface was just OK.
Summary
None of the Keyfinders will retrieve a product ID key from a CD because it isn't stored on the CD in readily usable form, I'm told. But it will do as advertisized if you've lost your product ID code and have an installed product that needs to be reloaded.
