Editors' review

This browser add-on protects your usernames and passwords from keyloggers, but its quirks limit its effectiveness. KeyScrambler Personal's small dialog box interface is invoked from a tray icon. This utility encrypts keystrokes at the kernel level. It's automatically invoked when it detects typing in select browser username and password input boxes. As you type your password, the program displays the random characters that a keylogger would detect, but the correct characters are entered. A hot key easily starts and kills the encryption, and the registered version encrypts other security fields such as credit card numbers.

Though advertised for Internet Explorer and Firefox, our testers gave up using the add-on in Firefox 2. The tray icon would not display unless IE was started. The floating display often disappeared during typing. Under Firefox, standard username input boxes wouldn't invoke KeyScrambler Personal. IE suffered from none of these problems. If you fear a keylogger is after your username and password and you use IE as your sole browser, this freeware encrypter will prove handy. Otherwise, look for a more robust utility.

    "Keyscrambler Not compatible with IE11...!"

    April 24, 2014   |   By scottls59901

    Version: KeyScrambler Personal

It's free, but you get what you didn't pay for!

Frequently after closing IE11, the taskbar icon stays green, and anything you type in Any search box is encrypted gibberish...

I end having to open/close FireFox to turn it off.

I contacted KS support, but they were unable to help.

I also tried SpyShelter free/paid Trial, and they wouldn't encrypt in FireFox!-
SS support said it may be my Kaspersky AV?

I may end up having to reinstall KS, as it protected me from 4 rootkit Trojans ( later removed by MBAM anti-rootkit beta)!?

    "Good software"

    November 30, 2013   |   By Ahmedshawon92

    Version: KeyScrambler Personal

    -Little software
-I can see keystroke being enscrypted
    -Suuport almost any browser

Free vertion only supports browsers. Many application and email clients also required password. It won't protect them.

For full protection download "Zemana AntiLogger Free."
