Publisher's description of KeyScrambler Personal 2.2.1
From QFX Software:KeyScrambler Personal is a free plug-in for your Web browser that protects everything you type from keyloggers. It defeats keyloggers by encrypting your keystrokes at the keyboard driver level, deep within the operating system. When the encrypted keystrokes reach your browser, KeyScrambler then decrypts them so you see exactly the keys you've typed. Keyloggers can only record the encrypted keys, which are completely indecipherable. Unlike anti-virus and anti-spyware programs that depend on recognition to remove keyloggers that they know about, KeyScrambler will protect you from both known and unknown keyloggers. What's more, KeyScrambler provides protection without getting in your way. You don't have anything to learn about the program and you don't have to do anything differently, but with KeyScrambler your important personal information will be a whole lot safer.
Version 2.2.1 is a bug fixing release.

This browser add-on protects your usernames and passwords from keyloggers, but its quirks limit its effectiveness. KeyScrambler Personal's small dialog box interface is invoked from a tray icon. This utility encrypts keystrokes at the kernel level. It's automatically invoked when it detects typing in select browser username and password input boxes. As you type your password, the program displays the random characters that a keylogger would detect, but the correct characters are entered. A hot key easily starts and kills the encryption, and the registered version encrypts other security fields such as credit card numbers.
Though advertised for Internet Explorer and Firefox, our testers gave up using the add-on in Firefox 2. The tray icon would not display unless IE was started. The floating display often disappeared during typing. Under Firefox, standard username input boxes wouldn't invoke KeyScrambler Personal. IE suffered from none of these problems. If you fear a keylogger is after your username and password and you use IE as your sole browser, this freeware encrypter will prove handy. Otherwise, look for a more robust utility.
