Protecting your computer from viruses is not something to take lightly, so we're glad to say Kaspersky Internet Security does a better-than-average job of keeping your PC safe. Three new features along with expected upgrades to their antivirus engine keep Kaspersky competitive.

New features in the 2010 edition include a behavioral-based detection system called the Urgent Detection Sytsem. The UDS uses tthe anonymous data Kaspersky customers who choose to participate in submitting their system scans for analysis. In fact, the UDS must be opted-out of--there's a check box and data collection statement to read when you install the program. Also new, the Safe Run sandbox nearly doubles the amount of RAM the program uses, but provides a secure environment for launching programs. Safe Run also comes with a sandboxed folder into which you can save files without worry. Programs can be launched into Safe Run manually through the Kaspersky Security Zone panel, or launched on the fly using the context menu.

A gamer mode, somewhat superfluous virtual keyboard to avoid keylogging, and auto-run disabling are the less-impressive new features, joining stalwarts like antivirus protection for files, e-mail, HTTP traffic, and instant messaging. There are protections against spam, phishing, and banner ads, firewall control, and a network monitor to track network activities for users who like to drill down deep into their system's behavior. There's also a parental control filter, with options to customize for children or teens. Kaspersky is a strong security suite, but the extra features only available in Internet Security make it worthwhile to pay for.

"Not sure!!"

November 02, 2009  |  By msbahari

 |  Version: Kaspersky Internet Security 2010

Pros

provide good protection, real time specially over the web. anti-banner work well even for sites that won't work unless you watch ads.

Cons

kills your computer! i have xp, 2mb ram, but still it slows your computer to death.

Summary

if you do not have big big ram, do not considered. it used to be light good antivirus but not any more.

"I never really know if it's working or not."

October 28, 2009  |  By tvviewer46

 |  Version: Kaspersky Internet Security 2010

Pros

With all the sick individuals out there who'd love to destroy your computer just because they can, it's comforting to have a safe guard which will allegedly stop the maladies before they infect your computer.

Cons

I've had two occasions, where I had to cleanse my hard drive due to infection. Alas, I learned from computer performance that I'd been attacked. The code used was better written than the code used to stop them.

Summary

The funny thing about any software you buy is you don't comprehend what they're doing. All you know is the performance. You really need to be a professional to evaluate if the performance matches the promotion. I went to Kaspersky Labs after reading a comparison of security software on CNET, and CNET gave it a rave review.

I first bought the KL's anti virus program and this year chose to upgrade to its more dynamic Kapersky Internet Security 2010. I do appreciate its coverage of all new software being loaded into the computer as well as the e-mail I receive on a daily basis. However, like all services, they're only as good as the information they have. If some brilliant hacker chooses to infect your computer with a malady not known to KL, it will get through and you will learn of it after the fact. I've had to cleanse my computer twice due to this phenomenon. Consequently, I'd rather have lights flashing, sirens going off and a voice screaming "ALERT. ALERT. YOU'RE UNDER ATTACK." But, no, I had to learn of it passively. Oh, sure. I get a report disclosing the maladies, but nothing as affirming as:"We caught it. We destroyed it. Your computer is now safe." All I know is whether the computer's performance is on the same level as before the attack. Therefore, I never really know how safe or protected my computer really is. I buy the software for the potential safe guard it brings. Hopefully, it brings a lot.
