"The best I ever had."

June 09, 2011  |  By Eddie1962150

 |  Version: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011

Pros

Doesn't slow my computer one bit. Doesn't take forever to scan.

Cons

It has none that I have found after 8 years and 100% protection for that time.

Summary

This is the best antivirus you will buy. I think the people on here giving it bad reviews are people from other antivirus companies trying to get the business back that they have lost to their sorry AV products. I have been using Kaspersky now for 8 years. In that 8 years I have never been infected with anything. Neither have I ever had a problem with the program.
I think a lot of the bad reviews are also coming from noobs that have no idea what they are doing. They put it on some old computer that doesn't have enough processor speed or memory then try to blame Kaspersky when it's the jockey sitting in front of the key board.
I run a computer repair business. I install Kaspersky 30 day trial on every computer that comes in here. Especially the ones that come in infected with AVG or Avast on them.
These two antivirus suck the worst of any out there. 95% of the computers that come in this shop that are infected so bad they will not even boot either have Avast or AVG on them. None of my customers so far have ever complained about Kaspersky slowing down their computers or missing anything.
You people posting all these bad reviews I think are full of crap. You either don't know what you are doing, Or you are posting maliciously trying to keep people from being protected so you and people like you can continue to break in their computers and steal info.

"Support is a hoax. At most, thogh to be discrouraging."

May 15, 2011  |  By SeriousAbout

 |  Version: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011

Pros

It does detect most if not all malware.
Began with a trojan. KAV requested to act, OK!.
KAV want rebbot, OK!.
Trojan's back...

Cons

It appears that I had to cope with it on my own.
I change EXE in TXT to edit/delete all characters.
Rebooted, 1, 2, & times.
No more sign of malware activities.
Deleted the EXE files. Rebooted.
It remained absent.

Summary

While I destructed the tojan, KAV asked to lock Winows registry editor. I OK'ed.
Win registry edit remained locked by some "Admin"...
Emailed request for support to KAV admin.
~6 weeks back. Never got any reply what so ever.
Went to Kapersky webased discussion groups, also totally useless.
The whole being a hoax.
Good days or Kapersky AV may have just gone by as the other ones McAfree, CA Ass, so forth.
What's next? I must change that KAV at licence experiration next year. Do not rely on recognition anymore! On top of that, I read that KAV trial is not effective during trial. No way to get to know the hoax!

"Just don't"

March 12, 2011  |  By Win7Hater

 |  Version: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011

Pros

Supposed to have high detection rating.

Cons

Blocked apps without saying it was blocking them.

Reports are difficult to navigate.

I asked questions about the interface on their forum, they said that since I was not willing to post information about the threat, they had to delete the post.

Summary

If you don't mind mysterious issues with your programs, go for it.

One star for blocking without notification.

"Uninstalled Kaspersky from a Friend's Computer"

February 24, 2011  |  By Daris4u

 |  Version: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011

Pros

It isn't too bad on Protection...Good detection on Scan..

Cons

Heavy, slows down system, way too many temp files, wit all of the program it's probably about 200mb..

Summary

I fix Computers and Kaspersky is pretty good, but there is better that are Free, It is too much and too complicated and unorganized, things are hard to find..I see it on alot of computers I fix and I aways suggest AVAST which has 7 shields, sandbox, very organized and easy to figure out...set it and it will scan and delete what you want automaticaly, just click Scan and it does the rest...Updates automatically and has a great Forum for help, and an awesome support team...and it;s free with very good ratings and very happy users...and it;s free..looks better, faster scans, and if you want more it cost less to upgrade if you want to pay...

"Effective system protection, but slows performance"

February 03, 2011  |  By TonyBeGoode

 |  Version: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011

Pros

Easy to install and use with a good interface and some attractive extra features. Performance appears to be excellent as an anti-virus and anti- malware program.

Cons

Full scan speed is quite slow (although "quick-scan" is very quick) but the up-dated 2010 version I'm using noticeably slows overall system speed and increases boot-up time.

Summary

Kaspersky makes a very good, if not great, anti-virus product (I've noticed it classified as spyware; that is only part of it's function) The ease of use and extra features might justify it's cost to many people ($80 seems kind of steep to me, but I've seem it on sale for half that) I would also add that the tech-types I know like the way it works better than some other brands since it does not destroy data or files along with the virus. That may account for it's lack of speed so if you're willing to put up with it, and the price is right , I'd say give it a try.

In response to web related problems when using Kaspersky 2010, yeah, I developed problems with cookies in my Firefox 3.6.13 and finally had to uninstall it , In this regard I don't expect too much from the Kaspersky when it comes to my browsers and and using other spyware programs instead. Bottom line is probably that it's good at dealing with virus and certain types of malware, but sucks at dealing with web-introduced nasties.

"the full scan takes forever"

January 13, 2011  |  By francisco8104

 |  Version: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011

Pros

The antivirus apparently gives you a lot of protection but...

Cons

the full scan takes forever ( 6 hours and more ), and I have only used the recomended settings with no rootkit scan.

Summary

I can not use an antivirus that takes 6hours and more to do a full scan on a 120G hdd. I ll go back to bitdefender.

"King Of False Positives"

January 07, 2011  |  By xBobsx

 |  Version: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011

Pros

Excellent Firewall and good detection of viruses ,trojans and malware but...

Cons

.. detects a lot of safe clean files as malware this is really annoying as my DivX player won't run because kaspersky overzealous scanner has quarantined this perfectly safe file and tells me it is a backdoor/trojan/win32.ircnite.dll

Summary

Lets hope Kaspersky does address this false positive issue the latest avcomparatives .org test results back up my suspicions as Kaspersky was the worst offender in detecting safe clean files as malware .

"Problem with Kaspersky Antivirus 2010"

December 20, 2010  |  By zebnow5

 |  Version: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011

Pros

When I bought my PC 3 months ago it came with Kaspersky Antivirus 2010 for 1 year. It seemed to run without causing any slowdown of my PC, until I started to notice an issue with several of the web pages I use regularly. See Cons for details.

Cons

Normally I stay logged into several web pages all day long and visit those pages throughout the day. When I started to use Kaspersky AV 2010, I noticed that I was getting logged out of those pages many times each day.

Summary

Even though I had 10 months left on the 1 year subscription to Kaspersky AV 2010, I ended up uninstalling it and switching to another AV product, which solved the problem of being logged off web sites continuously. Not only was I being logged off those web sites with Kaspersky AV 2010, but they would not even remember that I had ticked off the "remember me" box, so I had to log completely back in with username and password, which was a major annoyance. Somehow Kaspersky AV 2010 was blocking the communications back from those web sites, so they could not confirm that I was a legitimate user. Due to this problem, I would not recommend buying Kaspersky AV products. My PC is running Windows 7 Ultimate.
