i really like antivir premium, but my heart belongs to kaspersky. it does take some time to fully understand some features of kaspersky. like the practive defense. i read some one say it's utterly useless. that's not true. although it takes time to fully understand how it works and how to read into what it's telling you. you must carefully read what the warnings say! for instance if it says "trojan like behavior" you can safely hit skip. why? because it's not over. file anitvirus will still give it a good looking over and disinfect it if it's clean. if you're truly paranoid. enagage the registry guard and riskware options when you're not installing anything. and nothing is going to happen and i mean nothing. it doesn't have an email scanner, or im guard. i can however tell you, it still sniffs out the stuff quite nicely. the reason being if you set the file antivirus to high. this is the most aggressive snoop on the planet. i have compared this and antivir premium and kaspersky proves to be more agressive at looking at files as you open them. i love the start up scan. and i love the fact, if you're really a high risk web surfer, you can submit your malware sample to kaspersky, they will have a definition released within 24 hours. with that said antivir premium is less likely to have conflicts on your machine. i highly endorse both apps. you can't go wrong with either one really. after playing with antivir premium a few months, i was highly impressed and gave it full endorsement to all my friends that couldn't run kaspersky. all are satisfied.

to some, the 50 dollar price may be a con. i purchase a product based on what i want. not on what it costs. if money is a concern at 27 dollars antivir premium may be the better option. keep in mind however that free security software, especially av software should only be used if you absolutely can't afford it.......... like it or not. there is a big difference. don't be fooled by cnet's foolish statements like "sure you could plunk down a lot of cash for an av app but avg free delivers the goods for free" avg delivers alright. it's called malware.

How does one know that their anti virus program is working? You have to trust an anti vurus program. Blogs, reviews, etc lead you to it.
How do I know what it's doing?
It comes up, and slows down my system. I suppose it's working.

I have been online since 1997. There WAS no internet.
As far as Kaspersky,
No Support. Phone support is fast and offers you "...exiting the system, good by"
Email support replys every 3 days with technical requests for information that
Tsutmu Shimomura couldn't provide. I have an obvious conflict problem.
As their phone support is non existant, and their email support resembles 'Days of our lives, I'm forced to buy another product..

- Unlike other AV softwares, Kaspersky doesn't slow down your system.
- Kaspersky virus scanning speeds are amazing!
- The explorer integration lets you scan files instantly just by right-clicking on them.
- The Interface is very easy to use, so even the beginner can figure it out in seconds.
- Updating the virus signatures takes less than a minute!
- What I like most about Kaspersky is the "disinfect, Remove if disinfection fails" feature. Because, it does exactly what it says.

I am very impressed. This product's search engine has been prooved on a variety of sources to have a close-to-perfect detection rate. I have in the past used the following:
-Nortan,
-Avira,
-AVG,
-Avast!,
-Trend Micro, (this was also very good)
There really is a difference between paid for and free AV products.
I am impressed with this. I can see the detection software in work.

Downloading was easy until it wanted me to restart my campouter and now I can't . . . It has a message that windows a recovered from a seriuos error and I can't restart my computer in normal mode - I have to bring it somewhere and have it fixed - It was fine before I installed this program. I don't even know if it's working
