KLS Backup 2006 Professional is a powerfull backup, synchronization and disk cleaner program that allows you to back up or synchronize your data to local and network drives, CD/DVD media or FTP (SSL/TLS) server. The cleanup feature is a complete solution to backup and clean private data and free up disk space. The backup files can be stored uncompressed or compressed in standard Zip, Zip64, 7z or SQX format. The program can back up files and folders (from local drives, network locations, FTP servers), registry keys, MySQL databases, email client profiles (Outlook, Oulook Express, Mozilla, Thunderbird), Windows and application settings.
Advanced version management, makes possible to find and restore any backup version within seconds. The synchronization feature allows you to easily synchronize the contents of two different folders. Running as a windows service the built-in scheduler provides a powerful automated backup solution. Version 2.0.0.2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
Pros: After adding a second hard drive I needed dependable software to keep folders synchronized daily. I also needed to archive GBytes of data to DVD on a set schedule with compression and encryption. After evaluating numerous backup utility trial versions, KLS Backup 2006 was my final choice. Purchasing and receiveing the product key was accomplished in less than an hour (during a weekday). I've now scheduled all of my synchronization and backup sets to run in the background. This product met all of my expectations and was intuitive to set up and manage. The program has other features I do not need at the moment, but nice to know they are there when the time comes.
Cons: Maybe I missed seeing it, but a family license for the other PCs I manage in my household would be nice if the cost was just a byte more.
