From Codec Guide :K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is a collection of codecs, DirectShow filters and tools. Codecs and DirectShow filters are needed for encoding and decoding (playing) audio and video formats. The K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is designed as an user-friendly solution for playing all your movie files. With K-Lite Codec Pack you should be able to play all the popular audio and video formats and even some rare formats.
K-Lite Mega Codec Pack includes codecs for the most popular compressions like Divx and Xvid as well as some of the less popular but still necesary codecs. It also includes Quicktime and Realplayer codecs. Version 4.2.5 adds Media Player Classic Home Cinema version 1.1.843, updates Media Player Classic to version 6.4.9.1 rev. 82, and ffdshow to revision 2202.

"the only codec pack that worked"
Pros: Allows every possible file I have to play in Windows Media Player 11
Cons: I can't find any yet.

Pros: Ability to play different video file formats.
Cons: Problems playing Avi files.
