For a start, it's not complicated. Joomla has been developed for everybody, and anybody can develop it further. Similarly to the Firefox browser, the core system can be extended via installable add-ons authored by the developer community.

Version: Joomla 1.5.7
Pros: Wouldn't know.
Cons: Couldn't even install it. Downloading this gives you a mass of zipped files and directories that when uncompressed, don't do anything. There's no exe file and the directory that says "installer" doesn't install anything.
Summary: If it doesn't self-install, screw it. I shouldn't have to wade through the numerous directories and files to figure out how to even install it.
