During installation, you have to be careful if you don't want to set JetAudio Basic as the default application for audio and video files. However, the freeware application gives you plenty of reasons to make it your only player.
The interface has a modern design that looks like an equalizer. You can customize each section of the program, from CD ripping to format conversion, to your heart's content. The program can convert files among some a number of formats, as well as read and edit MP3 tags. The built-in Cross-fader, Reverb, and Wide-sound modes provide a nice touch not found in most MP3 players. The program becomes truly unique with its clock, however, which features a timer and an alarm. We also appreciate the inclusion of a tool for seeking out song lyrics.
Our only quibble is it treats a playlist as an album but uses the artist as its primary key field, making it difficult to locate mixes. JetAudio Basic's appealing product set should attract audiophiles.

"The best choice"

Everything, i'm using this program for years for everything i do. I download it in every pc i use. It plays all kind of videos, it rips the cd's to mp3 and it has a lot of options. I just can't live without jet audio
Cons
For a new user the lot of options can be complicated, and i'm kinda surprised that i read bad reviews for things that jet audio can do perfectly. I suppose that they didn't search enough jet audio.
Summary
Always my first choice. For new users of jetaudio can be complicated but if you search a little bit the options and you learn the program, you'll never use another program ever.

The "X" (close) buttons for the window and the entire program can be confusing. Be sure to close the X to the left if you want to only close the window and not the entire program. I would like to see that Are you sure you want to close this program

I just got a quad core 4gb Ram computer with windows 7. I had attempted to load 30,000 songs and 2,000 music vids when the windows media player kept stalling when attemtping to load. I loaded itunes with no problems, but their lyrics viewer sucks and it doesnt play alot of different types of audio or video files. I then attempted using media monkey, but didnt care for it. I even tried the HP and roxio thing that came with my computer and they stalled when loading. I am currently using only JetAudio for audio and video. I download alot of movies online and use it as my default.
I did use this program on a single core (hyper threading) 1gb ram computer prior and it gave me no problems. I had been just using VLC for my videos, itunes for audio. I also didnt originally like all of the separate windows but now I just shut off the "Media Center" and just go off the video screen or the lyrics viewer (where you have the main control items). There is also a control bar on the bottom (tho as its long they should have changed the volume control on the bar to go horizontally rather than vertically).
Other Pro's:
Easy to save playlists (just add items into the playlist no need to hit save).
It has a separate video window that you can set at a specific size. It also does the same for a lyrics viewer so you can see the entire page of lyrics rather than just a small portion. -

Wouldn't load my music library. Every version that has come out does the same thing-stops after 50 songs have loaded. No other music player or media manager does this. All the others load my library and then work. This one doesn't.

Wouldn't advise using this to friends who have extensive music collections such as I do because it won't load it up.

Won't rip my CDs to mp3 format. I've got tons of music stored as mp3s, so for simplicity's sake I'd like to use the same format for new rips. Perhaps there's a newer format that uses less storage, but who cares- 2TB hard drives cost $100

I've had JetAudio for a few months but I've never gotten used to it... the user interface really needs work... Here's why:
1.) whenever I open the app, three separate tabs open at the bottom of my screen, which crowds my app bar and generally annoys me... you can close one of the three tabs, but if you close the wrong one, the WHOLE app shuts down...
2.) if one of the tabs is minimized, it creates a new long thin tab (spanning above the regular tabs) that is really hard to use -- or close...
3.) whenever I go to play an album that I've ripped, it usually takes me a few tries to find the folder where all my albums are hiding... and
4.) when I make a live recording (using Audxxxxy), it will automatically overwrite one of my playlists with that new recording... that bugs me!
But for some reason I do like JetAudio, that's why I've kept it, but maybe I'm just too lazy to try out yet another music mgmt app... -

I am not going to compare it to other players, I will rate it as is. It is a very good, solid, feature-packed media player. Plays many formats, even DVDs. The only draw-back is that the interface is sometimes overwhelming, making it a little difficult to get where you need and do what you need.
Seems sometime that people want a perfect product with all the bells and whistles for free. Too bad it doesn't work that way.
This is a fine media player with tons of features.
