JAlbum is a long-time favorite free Web album generator. There's no wizard to direct you through the process, but a quick look through the menus will be enough to get you started creating image collections online.
To begin, specify the original image folder, set the album-destination folder, select the images, and generate the album--it's really not more complicated than that. Using the integrated FTP client, you can upload your album to your Web site or you can use the integrated Web server to serve your album from your computer. The JAlbum site also lets you post your projects to their Web hosting service for free, as long as you don't mind registering your name and e-mail address. There are several great-looking templates and skins to choose from, with more skins available online from JAlbum.
Recent versions include a lot of new tools, most notably a photo editor for basic manipulations, such as red-eye removal and cropping. If you've been looking for a new way to post your photos, JAlbum is a great choice with an extremely easy-to-use interface and plenty of options to create the perfect album.
Publisher's description
From Datadosen :JAlbum allows you to create nice-looking photo galleries for the Web. You simply select or drag and drop folders containing images or movie files onto JAlbum, and it creates thumbnails and HTML pages to publish your images as a gallery or as a picture slide show. Version: JalbumWin 8.0.9
Pros: I would say this is to computer users what the SLR has been to amateur photographers - it opens up the world of creating professional and interesting albums. Easy to create a basic album but some of the skins require a lot of settings - however for me this is a plus as it puts you in control of almost evertyhing
The built in FTP allowing you to upload your albums direct from the programme to your own or their limited free hosting is especially good. I paid a small amount for hosting but it isnt really necessary unless you are paranoid about having all your albums in one location.
Cons: not so much dont like as improvements possible
strong links to social networking sites and photostreams like flickr (from the hosting) would be good - there are skins that let you do this but they are not the "click here to upload to facebook" type tools and need a bit of understanding.
More web space for less money would be good but I guess they have to make their money somewhere

Version: JalbumWin 8.0.9
"SUPER SLOW.. only for albums with 10 pics or less.."
Pros: the easy of use, the skins
Cons: it's not workable if you have large collections, if your pictures are high quality it makes the app run super slow
Summary: the product design is very nice, i would love to see some speed improvements, in its current form, it's only usable if you have 10 pictures or so, i have a souped up Dell M2010 tell laptop with 4 Gig RAM, Dual Core 2.2G and the software performance ... read more >>

Version: JalbumWin 8.0.9
"Finally, a hip and easy online photo gallery"
Pros: Many netizens don't want to resort to handing their private pictures to Picasa, Flickr, or Facebook. Jalbum isn't entirely open source, but it comes pretty close in terms of making it streamlined, powerful, and easy to use for web novices.
Cons: Needs more hype to get critical mass popularity to survive.
Summary: Great. It's only going to get better.
