JPEGCruncher Desktop uses exactly the same optimization engine as the online version, but it runs in the privacy and controlled environment of your own computer. It converts to JPEG from many other formats, including GIF, TIFF, BMP, PICT, and others. Version 2.0.8 addresses Windows XP compatibility issues. This updated version includes the following: * Fixed cropping bug * Fixed font problems, RGB space for all JPEGs * Fixed problems with Use Settings checkbox and Batch-quality setting. * Fixed problems with saving extra JPEG data and 0 TIFF size. Note: This program costs $49.95 to register and has a 15-day trial period.

Pros: Amazing. compressed my JPEG files up to 60% with no perceptible quality loss. Just what I needed.

Summary: Tested software with bitmap 3.5mb crunch down to 148kb in jpeg format. test 2 jpeg image 171.kb crunch to 60% = 44.8kb with no loss of quality. As a web builder i highly recomend this software.

"Best compression algorithm out there"
Pros: I've used both the online and desktop version of JPEG Cruncher and found both to be excellent tools for reducing the size of JPEGs for web use and email. GIF Cruncher is also a great tool, but doesn't seem to have been upgraded in awhile
