Many programs can help you create photo albums for the Web, but few balance ease of use and functionality as gracefully as the free JAlbum. In JAlbum, you assemble your project step-by-step, arranging simple tasks in a logical order. You specify the original image folder, set the album-destination folder, select the images, and generate the album. The program offers a considerable variety of skins for your album and lets you preview them prior to selection. You can easily create a customized slide show from your images, too. The impressive online help pages provide tutorials and detailed assistance. Our favorite feature, however, was the built-in FTP client, which lets you directly upload projects to your Web site. Overall, Jalbum's clear interface and abundant features lift it above most of its competitors.Publisher's description
From JAlbum AB :Free advanced web photo album generator with index pages and slideshows. Now with JSP/ASP-like scripting, integrated smart FTP client, improved EXIF handling and more. Drop folders containing image and movie files onto JAlbum. JAlbum will create thumbnails of your images and display them in index pages in HTML. You can also have JAlbum produce slide shows of your images for easy navigation. The apperance of the generated albums can be fully configured through the use of skins.
What's new in this version:
Changes- New skin installer. Simply drag and drop skin files (zipped skin folders) on the skin selector of JAlbum to install a skin. You can also double click .jaskin files to install the contained skins.

Version: JAlbum 7.1
"Simple, easy to use, but with at least one serious flaw."
Pros: Very flexable with plenty of options.
Cons: By deleting photo from what I thought was the album I actually deleted the photo from my master file - there was no way of undoing or retreaving the photo - not even from trash - photo is now lost forever.
There appears to be no way of turning the sideshow off - one is left inside the slideshow - got back to the main screen go going to the "About JAlbum" - still slide show was on in the bacckground.
