Many programs can help you create photo albums for the Web, but few balance ease of use and functionality as gracefully as the free JAlbum. In JAlbum, you assemble your project step-by-step, arranging simple tasks in a logical order. You specify the original image folder, set the album-destination folder, select the images, and generate the album. The program offers a considerable variety of skins for your album and lets you preview them prior to selection. You can easily create a customized slide show from your images, too. The impressive online help pages provide tutorials and detailed assistance. Our favorite feature, however, was the built-in FTP client, which lets you directly upload projects to your Web site. Overall, Jalbum's clear interface and abundant features lift it above most of its competitors.Publisher's description
From JAlbum AB :This software allows you to create nice-looking photo galleries for the Web. You simply select or drag and drop folders containing images or movie files onto JAlbum, and it creates thumbnails and HTML pages to publish your images as a gallery or as a picture slide show. The galleries are based on various templates, and their appearance can be further customized by advanced users. The application's additional features include support for IPTC/EXIF data, style sheets, lossless image manipulation, pluggable image filters, and a built-in FTP/SFTP client.
Version 6.5 adds the ability to share albums straight from your local hard disk by using an integrated web server. No need to publish your albums first.

"This program outdoes commercial software. Best of all it's free!"
Pros: Simple interface makes it easy to create new albums with a few clicks.
Easily add comments to pictures.
Lot's of skins to choose from and capability to make your own.
Lot's of customization options to tweak the appearance of your photo album.
It's FREE!!!!

"Excellent intuitive program that is ideally suited to beginners."
Pros: JAlbum is a completely free web photo album program that allows you to publish your images to the web or share them with family and friends without publishing them - the software comes with a link to a small server especially for this.
This program is so simple to use that even an idiot like me can get it right first time. Within 13 minutes of downloading the program I was able to share 800 photos with my family across the UK. Everyone was able to log on to my albums and download photos without difficulty.
This program was easy to use and has a selection of skins to use. with many more to be downloaded.
Thanks to JAlbum my shared albums are easy to access and download and they look professional!
The share facility is a real bonus for those who don't want to go to the trouble of publishing a website and for those (like me) who have a limit (in my case 55MB)on the webspace available to them.
I highly recommend this software to any beginner who would like to share his photos with family and friends with ease and without fuss.

Pros: One of those few downloads you make where everything runs pleasently smoothly. JAlbum maker's attitude in his statement to folks using his item is also very classy.

Pros: If you aren't British you won't get that one liner but this is a great tool because it does what it says it does and only that in a simple and productive way. All tools should be like this.
Cons: It would be nice to drag and drop into a virtual folder instead of having to do it on the file system first. But that is just me being lazy.
