Many programs can help you create photo albums for the Web, but few balance ease of use and functionality as gracefully as the free JAlbum. In JAlbum, you assemble your project step-by-step, arranging simple tasks in a logical order. You specify the original image folder, set the album-destination folder, select the images, and generate the album. The program offers a considerable variety of skins for your album and lets you preview them prior to selection. You can easily create a customized slide show from your images, too. The impressive online help pages provide tutorials and detailed assistance. Our favorite feature, however, was the built-in FTP client, which lets you directly upload projects to your Web site. Overall, Jalbum's clear interface and abundant features lift it above most of its competitors.Publisher's description
From JAlbum AB :This popular software (more than 600,000 Google references) allows you to create nice-looking photo galleries for the Web. You simply select or drag and drop folders containing images or movie files onto JAlbum, and it creates thumbnails and HTML pages to publish your images as a gallery or as a picture slide show. The galleries are based on various templates, and their appearance can be further customized by advanced users. The application's additional features include support for IPTC/EXIF data, style sheets, lossless image manipulation, pluggable image filters, and a built-in FTP client.
Version 5.0.4 added a tool to the Tools menu to calculate the size of the final album (useful before publishing albums), updated the bundled skin "XP" to v1.22, and removed skin hints that caused confusion from the bundled BluPlusPlus skin.

Version: JAlbum 5.0.4
Pros: Easy to use, apparently error-free at the user level, intuitive menues and buttons, a lot of beautiful templates, fast (for java!) and reliable. No-b...it product!
Cons: I didn't notice any

Version: JAlbum 5.0.4
"tried at least a dozen programs and this one is a big winner"
Pros: very flexible, can make your own styles, also can use build-in ones, as the 5-star recommendation says- can't praise it highly enough
Cons: haven't found so far (and I have been using it for more than a year)
-
Version: JAlbum 5.0.4
"Nifty software to display pictures on the web especially given that it is free!"
Pros: Orders the pictures nicely. provides thumnails and scaled images. You can leave your pictures in the original directory if you choose
Cons: Doesn't seem to work w/ Firefox. Default display looks rather dull.
-
Version: JAlbum 5.0.4
Pros: The automation features are nice.
Cons: It has default directory naming that is difficult to predict on the FTP side. It makes multiple copies of images and thumbnail directories to the hard drive that are hard to identify and delete after uploading.
