From Smart Projects :IsoBuster is an excellent and low cost utility to do data recovery from CD, DVD, BD and HD DVD. All File-Systems are supported. Supports an enormous range of image files as well. Scanning for lost files and folders, CD, DVD, BD and HD DVD Surface scan. Find lost data on discs created with drag and drop applications (Direct CD, InCD, DLA, Instant-Write, VISTA).
Find lost pictures created and saved to CD with Mavica or other equipment. Version 2 includes the blue laser optical disc types: BD (blue-ray Disc) and HD DVD (High Density DVD). Version 2.1 build 2.1.0.2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"Best piece of software I have tried in years"
Pros: Sometimes, but not often, you come across a piece of software that you instantly love. IsoBuster is such a tool. Loved by many, hated by some (apparently). Despite the love or hate, it is an awesome tool to recover data from optical discs such as CD and DVD.
I have used it a couple of times now on both CD and DVD and in each instance IsoBuster came to the rescue. Thanks to IsoBuster I have recovered data that my wife would kill me over, if she knew it was gone (I'm supposed to be the PC guru and guardian of all electronic goods (grin).
IsoBuster simply rocks, there's not a better description.

Pros: This software rescued all my vacation photos that I had put on a CD. It's very straightforward and easy to use. Most pictures were shown immediately, a scan for "missing files and folders" found all of them. I tried 3 other programs before I landed IsoBuster and I'm very grateful that I did.

"Does not help stepwise to recover data from unuseable CD"
Pros: It does not seem to be user friendly as it does not show the steps for recovery of data from unuseable CD
