This image viewer and editor is a longtime favorite among our staff, and with good reason. IrfanView is simple, fast, and free for individual use. Upon installation, the app attempts to install two Google programs, but if you don't want them, you can choose to opt out.
The program lets you open and edit images, as well as multiple media formats. You can cut and crop images, apply batch conversions, add, sharpen, or blur effects, create panoramas, and change color modes easily. The program continues to add support for an array of file formats and has plug-in support for most image, video, and sound formats, including MP3, AVI, audio CD, and WMA. The interface is far from fancy but should be easy enough for most users to figure out. An IrfanView Thumbnails shortcut on the desktop offers an Explorer-like file tree that quickly displays all images in a particular folder.
Though IrfanView works does what it does well, it's not going to replace a major paint program. IrfanView wraps a nice set of features for an image viewer in a free, compact download.

Version: IrfanView 4
Pros: The IrfanView product is certainly the best. It can open ANY type of image (provided you select all the image types during installation). Any other such product would sell for $40 or more. Irfan must have worked for years on this. And the best part is that it is free. The creator must be a very kind hearted soul. This is really the best image viewing tool I've seen. It does not take its time to load images. At first I thought that something this good MUST have a side-effect. But it doesn't! This is a must-have program.
Cons: None. Gives you the option to install Google components, but it also gives the choice to say 'No'.

Version: IrfanView 4
Pros: I installed this product on a machine running Bit Defender antivirus with resident shield loaded and Sygate Personal Firewall Pro running. Nothing wrong from my antivirus or my firewall.
The product is as free as they say. There are no Shareware messages like "I Agree" or "Evaluation expired".
Talking about features there are a lot of files formats supported (over 50 including plugins). You can also use Adobe Photoshop Filters with IrfanView. The other common operations are also supported (resize, batch conversion, cut/crop, effects).
Anything you may want is in the box !
Shortcuts and some default options are not always the best choice. You MUST take a look into program options before starting to use this program.
This is one of the best free image viewer on the market. I also recommend you to take a look at FastStone image viewer. FastStone is also free and has a more friendly user interface but is slower than IrfanView. The choice is yours ...
Cons: Shortcuts and some default options are not always the best choice. GUI can be improved.

Version: IrfanView 4
"THe most powerful, but straightforward image viewer"
Pros: Ability to cycle through a folder of media(pictures, videos, sounds) with ease of a click or arrow button! Slideshow creation feature has created a few 30minute presentations for my school, and the feature set of resizing, effects, and croping to tie it together. Love the printing interface, and the wide file type support.. Great Job! Keep It Up!
Been using this program since version 2, on my old win98 machine >> 7 << years ago!
Cons: The ability to resize pictures using a DPI lock... (eg: increasing the DPI auto scales the image...) but resizing pictures by pixels/size works great :D

Version: IrfanView 4
Pros: This is quite a nice and versatile program, you can open nearly any image formats as well as some videos/sound formats. Still, it has some decent editing features to go along with it, such as a slideshow, batch/convert, few special effects, cut/crop, numerous hotkeys, etc. I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for a solid-featured and versatile image viewer.
Cons: Could use more organizing feature like faststone or Xnview, , but it's probably good enough as it is now.
