This image viewer and editor is a longtime favorite among our staff, and with good reason. IrfanView is simple, fast, and free for individual use. Upon installation, the app attempts to install two Google programs, but if you don't want them, you can choose to opt out. The program lets you open and edit images, as well as multiple media formats. You can cut and crop images, apply batch conversions, add, sharpen, or blur effects, create panoramas, and change color modes easily. The program continues to add support for an array of file formats and has plug-in support for most image, video, and sound formats, including MP3, AVI, audio CD, and WMA. The interface is far from fancy but should be easy enough for most users to figure out. An IrfanView Thumbnails shortcut on the desktop offers an Explorer-like file tree that quickly displays all images in a particular folder. Though IrfanView works does what it does well, it's not going to replace a major paint program. IrfanView wraps a nice set of features for an image viewer in a free, compact download.Publisher's description

Version: IrfanView 3.99
Pros: I installed this product on a machine running Bit Defender antivirus with resident shield loaded and Sygate Personal Firewall Pro running. Nothing wrong from my antivirus or my firewall.
The product is as free as they say. There are no Shareware messages like "I Agree" or "Evaluation expired".
Talking about features there are a lot of files formats supported (over 50 including plugins). You can also use Adobe Photoshop Filters with IrfanView. The other common operations are also supported (resize, batch conversion, cut/crop, effects).
Anything you may want is in the box !
Shortcuts and some default options are not always the best choice. You MUST take a look into program options before starting to use this program.
This is one of the best free image viewer on the market. I also recommend you to take a look at FastStone image viewer. FastStone is also free and has a more friendly user interface but is slower than IrfanView. The choice is yours ...
Cons: The most disturbing "feature" is that the default thumbnail preview window opens a new screen.

"THE best (simple to use) image program!"
Pros: For our e-commerce business, RingDesigner.com, we are highly dependent on the inventory and quick retrieval of our very high quality jewelry images. We downloaded IrfanView about two months ago. It has been invaluable for quickly viewing images and then using with Outlook for customer service communication. Terrific program. Even got a personal response from the author/owner, thanking us for a compliment we had added to a survey regarding the product! Worth downloading.
Cons: I have a recommendation not a negative. Would be terrific to be able to view PhotoShop .PSD files. Just view, not do anything else with them other than send them to PhotoShop as the editor.

Version: IrfanView 3.99
"The perfect image viewer / editor"
Pros: Capable of viewing nearly every multimedia file (images, audio, video) under the sun, basic editing functions including image resizing, powerful automation features like batch resize or rename, small download and install, simple interface, lots of options, totally FREE!
Cons: Interface is slightly dated, won't replace Photoshop or your favorite image editing software.

"excellent choice for most users."
Pros: the biggest pro of this software is that it can open far more types of image and other type of files, i have never seen any software that can open more files than irfanview. with decent editing effects and options to batch convert, slideshow, multiple language support, and few more features to make it a good choice for beginners to average users. and its free too!
Cons: what can i say?its not good enough for professional use, it still lacks far behind programs such as faststone image viewer and gimp for its image organizing/gallery feature and advanced image editing. only use it if u need a image viewer with flexibility to view lots of file types with other few feature to add more use of it.
