From Intel :The Vtune Performance Analyzer collects, analyzes, and displays software performance data from the system-wide view down to a specific function, module, or instruction in your application source. The Vtune analyzer samples your application’s activity using non-intrusive technologies, allowing you to drill down to the source code for performance bottlenecks. In addition, you can ask for a Call Graph, which displays the program's flow of control graphically, and also drill down to source code. The analyzer’s intimate knowledge of the processor provides extensive insights into how the calls utilize the CPU, and the Tuning Assistant suggests optimization techniques.
