Native Instruments' software samplers have always pushed the sonic envelope. The latest offering, Intakt, focuses its sound-bending skills on drum and rhythmic loops with incredible stretch, sync, filter, and effect features. Built in the familiar Native Instruments fashion with plenty of knobs, buttons, and pulldowns, the program packs maximum functionality into a single window without being overly confusing. You can map and trigger samples from the on-screen keyboard and to an external unit. Using multiple algorithms, Intakt morphs samples to fit the tempo you choose, while maintaining the integrity of the original cut. Sound sculpting is handled by a variety of filters, a distortion module, and envelope tweaks, all of which yielded stellar results. A basic file browser helps you hunt for and load samples. The included library of sounds is a stellar addition. Overall, audio pros and beat junkies should find Intakt an awesome tool for manipulating rhythmic loops and sounds.Publisher's description
