ImageMagick for Mac

Publisher's Description

From unknown:

ImageMagick is a software suite to create, edit, and compose bitmap images. It can read, convert and write images in a large variety of formats. Images can be cropped, colors can be changed, various effects can be applied, images can be rotated and combined, and text, lines, polygons, ellipses and Bezier curves can be added to images and stretched and rotated.

Most of the functionality of ImageMagick can be used interactively from the command line; more often, however, the features are used from programs written in the programming languages C, Ch, C++, Java, Lisp, Pascal, Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby, Tcl/Tk, for which ready-made ImageMagick interfaces (MagickCore, MagickWand, PerlMagick, Magick++, PythonMagick, MagickWand for PHP, RMagick, TclMagick, L_Magick, and JMagick) are available. This makes it possible to modify or create images automatically and dynamically.

What's new in this version: See http://www.imagemagick.org/script/changelog.php for a history of recent changes.

"Great Program, If you can install it."

    January 31, 2006  |   By rspress

    Version: ImageMagick 6.2.6

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Sorry, I donâ??t want to offend the UNIX gods but a little documentation never hurt anyone. Sure I could install via fink or darwinports but I prefer to compile from source. It shows up about once or twice a year and I have to relearn how to install the damn thing all over again. I am not new to installing UNIX programs and have configured and installed many UNIX programs that might have never run on a Mac.

If it does not follow the common configure, make, make install route a litte documentation would help. To those new to UNIX it would probably be better if you chose a better documented but maybe less useful program to learn the ropes.

Otherwise top notch stuff as always.

    "Stop whining"

    June 21, 2005  |   By The Director

    Version: ImageMagick 6.2.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Stop whining. I can't stand it.

ImageMagick is an excellent piece of open source software released for free and you don't care enough to strain yourself and learn how to do stuff.

I bet that you are the ones whining about "why doesn't anyone seeeed.." on all the torrent sites.

I'm sorry to break this to you, but open source software doesn't come pre-installed by your mommy.

    "Fink-Built Versions Usually Better"

    November 15, 2004  |   By m5comp_dotmac

    Version: ImageMagick 6.1.4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've found that Fink-built version of IM usually work better than the official binaries (in 6.1.3, the official binaries had trouble displaying PNGs that had a resolution of other than exactly 72 dpi, while Fink's 6.1.3 handles these fine).
