Version: IceChat IRC Client 7
"Needlessly complicated and overrated."
Pros: It seems like a fully featured IRC client
Cons: Confusing interface. Steep learning curve for the IRC novice. I recommend Trillian instead.

Version: IceChat IRC Client 7
Pros: I like the fact that the server list is right on the main window. DCC works well on my apartment provided internet which normally blocks most other IRC programs. I haven't really experienced any crashes as described in the last review.
Cons: The customizable interface is ok, but needs better icons.

Version: IceChat IRC Client 7
Pros: If you don't touch anything you don't need to touch in the GUI, then this program is stable and functional. I especially appreciate the automatic configuration of IceChat to networks behind routers. My router's port forwarding doesn't work properly, and I could never get mIRC to work because of that. However, I had IceChat 7 up and running in seconds after installation, and I was successfully able to DCC files on IRC. How easy is that?
Cons: Bugs - For instance, when trying to move the tab bar to the bottom, the client crashes. Also, the program shuts down randomly, like when I try to close other windows or click certain buttons on the download/upload interface. I don't get that at all.
I still have issues with my uploads in this client. I have fast cable (5 Mbps down, 512 kbps up) and can only upload at 15 KB/s max, while I can upload the same file to the same user on MSN Messenger at 35-40 KB/s. I am able to receive files at high speed on IceChat, however.
Also, the GUI isn't as easy on the eyes as IceChat 5 - it's much too busy seeming. And I don't like the bottom-up scrolling of text (IceChat 5 had top-down).
I recommend downloading both IceChat 5 and 7 and comparing for yourself which client you prefer. I was not totally pleased with the upgrade, and I continue to use IceChat 5 instead of 7.

Version: IceChat IRC Client 7
"Pretty good irc client. very customizable."
Pros: it's very very customizable, i've changed my background to black and green text, the sides are faded from black to green vertically down. it's really cool. highlights and sounds are easy to set up, everything is user friendly, and it has a fairly simple GUI.
Cons: compared to mIRC, i can't pull out the chat window, it has to stay in the application window. with mIRC i could singally pull out hte chat window and dock it on the top or sides of my screen. :-( that's the only flaw i've found so far and i've had icechat for 2 months now.

Version: IceChat IRC Client 7
Pros: It does what it's supposed to and it's pretty easy to use.
Cons: There are some more complex features that someone who isn't very farmiliar with IRC wouldn't understand, but this is not much of a problem.
