Publisher's Description

From ICQ:

This is a version of ICQ (""I seek you""), the popular, user-friendly Internet program that notifies you in real time when friends or colleagues are online. With ICQ for Palm, you can use an existing ICQ number to register and build your contact list. Once your list is built, you can send messages directly to the screens of your friends, colleagues, and fellow Palm users. "Garbage NOT supported by ICQ anymore."

    October 16, 2005  |   By Grahama

Version: ICQ for Palm OS 2.1 beta

    Pros

    It may work

    Cons

ICQ doesn't support any ICQ for palm versions anymore. Try using the web version go.icq.com, it may work???

"You're better off downloading AIM for Palm from AOL-UK"

    June 20, 2004  |

Version: ICQ for Palm OS 2.1 beta

    Summary

Just enter your ICQ number in the "screen name" field, and it'll let you in, doing nearly everything ICQ for Palm should. Support for ICQ-Palm is little more than a joke. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T DOWNLOAD ICQ FOR PALM 2.1!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Worst Service in the History of Chatting"

    January 10, 2004  |

Version: ICQ for Palm OS 2.1 beta

    Summary

I used to be a big ICQ fan but lately they just downright suck. I can understand they may have needed to upgrade their server in September. I can understand that this might have accidently kicked every palm user off the service. But to flat out refuse to acknowledge the problem and send hundreds upon hundreds of users the same ridiculous computer generated response is absurd. Guess that is what we have come to expect from an AOL subsidiary (ie winamp).

"Used too work great; now no longer able to login."

    November 20, 2003  |

Version: ICQ for Palm OS 2.1 beta

    Summary

ICQ used to work great; never had any of the other problems mentioned. Now Nobody can log on anymore. ICQ's user forum is filled with complaints they are continually ignored. Apparently they made a change to their server and it is no longer authenticating palm users. Too bad, since this was the only decent chat client out their for palm (hint, hint developers).

    "DO NOT INSTALL !!!"

    May 21, 2003  |

Version: ICQ for Palm OS 2.1 beta

    Summary

The worst thing about it ist, that it is software. If it were hardware you could stuck it in the a** (where the sun never shines) of the developer !
My Palm is dead, I mean so dead that even a hard-reset won't help.

Ok, beta's can be buggy. But I don't understand why ICQ leaves it free for download ??
They know about the crashes on Palm !

"Works great if icq repair is used"

    August 23, 2002  |

Version: ICQ for Palm OS 2.1 beta

    Summary

ICQ works great on my m515, all my contacts on the icq server. But: you need the icq repair (Maxim). Without it will crash someday and you will need to do a system reset (data will be kept). Don“t perform a hard reset, this will erase all data.
In the end ICQ needs to a new release.

"Bad Program, Needs to be FIXED ASAP (take a hint ICQ we hate beta testing your software)"

    February 28, 2002  |

Version: ICQ for Palm OS 2.1 beta

    Summary

Please Please Please un-install ICQ on any Visor or Palm OS device that you have it loaded on. There are some serious issues with it. It crashed my Visor Pro. I was using the Minstrel S and when I launched ICQ it told me "fatal exception, error network.lib". The only way I was able to get my Visor back was to Hard Reset it, then delete almost every program from the backup folder, and re-install them one by one. The last one I loaded wad ICQ and I got the same error again. Upon closer examination I noticed that when ICQ accesses the network.lib it makes bad entries that don't checksum correctly. As a result it corrupts the network.lib and makes it unreadable by the Visor. On Soft Reset the Visor tries to load the network.lib (this is where all the network prefs are stored) and sees nothing. It's as if the directory gets messed up for network.lib making it unreadable. Once I got rid of ICQ, and reinstalled from scratch every program one at a time, everything worked fine. I reported this to ICQ support and they replied "the software is in beta, therefore there might be some issues". No Kidding.
