If Windows' built-in screen-capture abilities satisfy you, you probably haven't tried HyperSnap-DX. With this professional utility, you can capture images you never could have before. For instance, you can grab only a button image, whether active or inactive, with or without the mouse pointer showing. The application also lets you nab stills from a video game while you're playing, or create a how-to slide show by capturing active regions at a constant size. The Capture menu lists all the keyboard shortcuts for available actions, and the help file tells you what those actions do. If you choose the wrong action, the built-in tools let you edit your screengrab. The trial version stamps all images with ads for the software, but you should be able to quickly figure out whether this program is one you want to pay for.Publisher's description
From Hyperionics Technology :HyperSnap-DX Basic is a screen-capture tool that can capture not only standard desktop programs, but also DirectX, 3Dfx Glide games, and video or DVD screens. The program saves and reads pictures in BMP, GIF, and JPEG formats. Hot keys or the autotimer can be used to grab an image off the screen. Additional features include the ability to display the cursor in captured images, cropping tools, and palette and resolution settings. You also can capture areas of varying size, including an entire desktop or an area greater than the desktop (great for capturing entire Web pages).
This beta release has reworked the graphics engine to speed up drawing, scrolling, and bitmap displays in general. It has changed the Color Resolution dialog box. The drawing toolbar's Size-to-fit-Window button is now the View-Only-Mode button, which restores the regular arrow cursor. Additionally, with the regular arrow cursor, you can pan around the image by pressing on it and moving the mouse. The bugs reported by the beta 10 testers have also been corrected.
Note: This beta expires on November 30, 2000. Registration for the approved release will be $35.
