If Windows' built-in screen-capture abilities satisfy you, you probably haven't tried HyperSnap-DX. With this professional utility, you can capture images you never could have before. For instance, you can grab only a button image, whether active or inactive, with or without the mouse pointer showing. The application also lets you nab stills from a video game while you're playing, or create a how-to slide show by capturing active regions at a constant size. The Capture menu lists all the keyboard shortcuts for available actions, and the help file tells you what those actions do. If you choose the wrong action, the built-in tools let you edit your screengrab. The trial version stamps all images with ads for the software, but you should be able to quickly figure out whether this program is one you want to pay for.Publisher's description

"Fantastic all-around screen capture utility"
Pros: It's feature-packed and simple to use. It also easily handles a scrolling window capture, which is ideal for getting screenshots of web pages.

"Highly recommended for fans, testers and home page creators :)!"
Pros: This product is what you need wether you are testing a game or a software. You can save the created picture in almost every format without problems. Home page creators may find useful the stamping and shadowing methos HS can give you: as a stamp is very good for copyrighting pictures and shadowed pictures can improve the beauty of your page.
I also find usefull the method of color exchange which usally solves a lot of your work, if you want to change - fe. - home page design.
The gray-colored solutions used to come in handy when i had to upload images to forums or on slow connections, as the picture size is much lesser (contains less colors, ecw.) so it's easier to download.
The support (i tested the Hungarian) is very good as it's helpfull, however, they didn't created many tutorials.
It looks that the update process can inhereit your system settings.
Think about what tool to use when you see your favourit actor in a movie preview :) ...
Cons: I'm foreign, so i would be more happy if there would be a localized help.
The problem with update is that - at first - you will be informed about the connection by your application firewall (the exe wants to go out to Internet). I think it'd be much better to add a tipp or a switch to the installer, which would inform the user.
Some other applications can generate galleries (fe. the freeware Irfanview), i just wonder why HyperSnap isn't able to create this feature.
When you want to create a "Transparent" gif, it's not always possible.
Finally, i gave 4 stars - however, it's value is higher than 90% ;) - because of the above missing features or problems.

"This one actually works! (Many screen capturers don't)"
Pros: Installed exactly as I wanted. Does what I want (especially capturing scrolling windows and auto saving 100 consecutive screenshots with just one keystroke each. And is both powerful - as an image editor - and easy to learn. (I love the camera shutter noise!)
Cons: Doesn't allow auto-saving of changes to a snapshot, but this is a minor complaint.
