This freeware program promises to encrypt all your Internet connections, but since most public wi-fi access points in the U.S. are open, it's a bit hard to gauge Hotspot Shield's effectiveness. However, the connection itself is a bit wonky.
Once the program is installed, it creates an HTML link on your desktop. Double-clicking on it will open the application in your Web browser, and you'll be taken to a page detailing your Connection Status, IP Address, Server Address, Bytes sent and received, and the duration of the connection. Hotspot Shield is ad supported, so you'll get a big banner ad that lives at the top of every Web page, too. Closing the tab with the app's control panel doesn't disconnect the shield, though: for that, or to reload the control panel, you have to go through the green shield icon that gets loaded into your system tray. Also, there's a 5 GB transfer limit.
Overall, we can't give Hotspot Shield a strong recommendation, but as a last resort it might be worth trying out.

"So Far So Good"

I can really search the web anonymous now with Hot Spot Shield.
Cons
I get an error message when i first start hotspot shield when clicking connect telling me its not installed or not found.
Summary
This is a good software that allows you to search the web anonymously, My only complaint is that it disconnects itself after about an hour of browsing. Also when the browser first opens sometimes i get a page telling me to install the latest version of hotspot when i already have it installed. Before i had Hotspot Shield i was having trouble with a few hackers hacking my internet connection, But now that i have Hotspot Shield which chooses an anonymous ip address for me, the hackers can no longer find me. Over all its an excellent software.
"Update", The reason i kept getting a browser alert to download the latest version was because i didn't have the latest version installed as i thoughtl. Hotspot Shield does still disconnect though, But not as often as before. This is still an excellent software, And hackers still have a tough time finding me if at all. My only complaint now is that my browser page will sometimes refresh and scroll so if i'm in the middle of reading a paragraph i lose my place. "I'm Still Satisfied"!

after un-install , internet explorer homepage was hacked
and my floppy disk keep searching for disks.
i have to delete all wscript.exe files from my pc , because after deleting them i feel some relief.

as i uninstalled this program , i face 2 major problem due to it
1) my internet explorer homepage is changed , and i can not use any other homepage , or blank page , my ie home page is some kind of blogspot page now. thanks to hotspot shield :(
2) my floppy disk keep searching for disks.........without any reason... thanks to hotspot shield.
i found this software suspicious , my computer security is compromised after installing it.
and i advise all of you to not use this software. -
"Works on a Mac"

Makes it possible to watch Hulu,Fox,South Park Studios etc from outside the US, best free prog I have found to do this..
Cons
Sometimes you may get the error message when trying to load a video,but is easily reinstalled with a Mac and your away again.
buffering might be a problem at sometimes of the day..Summary
I would really recommend this for Mac users as it is easy to install and remove with a couple of clicks,some complain about the adds but if it keeps it free I don't mind,I seem to watch a lot more TV online now...Brilliant!!!!

It's FREE ! It's also a reliable service, the user interface is simple and straight forward so anyone can use it without any hassles.
If you have been IP banned from any website, HotSpot Shield will allow you to get around it with ease. =]Cons
5GB transfer max limit per month, very slight lag when loading sites with a lot of flash content but barely noticeable. If you're on Wifi, it rarely disconnects your adapter if you disconnect then reconnect too quickly in a short amount of time.
Summary
This is one of those life saving programs for people that always get IP banned from sites. It's also the best way to surf anonimously for free without having to install software that requires you to buy it for it to work properly. No ads. pop-ups, or anything else is needed to work, simply download it, install it, click "Connect", and your all set to go.
Honestly this software deserves a 5-star rating, when you try it, you'll see what I mean, along with the millions of other people also using this VPN service. -

I went to a site called "Shields Up" and ran the tests to see if it could be hacked .I was enlightened with the results....I was totally invisible according to their report and could not be hacked~!

Highly recommend Hotspot Shield with the use of Microsoft Security Essentials, Advanced Systemcare Free, Key Scrambler Free, Ad Block plus and
Firefox as your main browser....I feel this combination is very secure for a windows based program, minus the banners at the top of the page caused by Hotspot Shield.....I can live with it.....
