Publisher's description
From Devendra Parakh :Allows you to type in Hindi without having to remember a new keyboard layout (no font installation required as it uses the built in Indic language support provided by Windows). It works in all applications that support Unicode - including Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office (a Hindi spellcheck for Word is included), Notepad, Explorer, Outlook, Windows/MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger (7 and above), Web Based Email (Hotmail, Yahoo Mail). The program uses the popular iTrans scheme of transliteration. Starting with version 1.3, a Hindi spellcheck dictionary is included. This dictionary works in conjunction with Microsoft Word 2002 (Office XP). The main change with 1.3 is addition of Hindi Sellcheck for MS Word 2002.

Version: HindiWriter 1.3
"The best way to write Hindi!"
Pros: Devanagari is only nominally an alphabetic language. And Hindi writers don't think in terms of matraas and conjuncts. So the inscript system has always been the most natural way to type in Hindi. But until I found HindiWriter I couldn't find a way to type it into ordinary applications in Windows.
The included spellchecker is great as well. What a luxury to have spellchecking in Hindi!
I loved this little utility so much I wrote the author and offered to help with the next release!
Cons: I love it, but wish it did a better job of spellchecking words written by non native speakers who frequently confuse palatal and retroflex consonants. I wish you could set the key used to change keyboards.
