Editors' reviewThis tiny application accurately performs its only function: toggling the display of the Windows Start Button. Not much of an interface is there as Hide Start Button has only two commands: hide and show. While hiding the Start Button won't repel the serious or savvy user, it will slow them down. Further, novice users would be completely befuddled by the loss of the expected Start Button, the commands found on the Start Menu, quick access to certain programs, and the simple log-off method. To truly hide the Windows Menu for novice users, this application would need to also block the Windows Menu Button on most current keyboards, which is does not. This application's primary use would be in elementary school labs or the family PC, both of which are places where even accidental use of the Start Button is unwelcome. Hide Start Button is friendly and useful freeware for teachers and parents.
