Publisher's description
From Hide-My-IP :Hide My IP allows you to conceal your identity on the Internet. Surf anonymously, hide your IP address in email, cloak your browser's user-agent, and un-ban yourself from forums by changing your IP address anytime you wish. Hiding your IP is as easy as clicking the "Hide IP" button. Change your IP address automatically every few minutes or automatically mask your IP when you start your computer.
Version 1.8 added ability to Copy Fake IP, updated GUI, and added the Premium Service, allowing for faster IPs and secure connections.

Version: Hide My IP 1.8
"Tried the Rest, Now USE The Best"
Pros: The program simply works. They have helpful staff you can call toll free to get answers or help with problems. They were very patient with me even though it turned out I was being dumb.
I noticed a bad review on here and tried other products first because of it. But I kept coming back to this product in my quest for a working program. If you run a goggle search it comes up as #1 on many reviews sites (for good reason!). Finally I dismissed this bad review as bunk!
To whoever wrote that bad review... There is a phone number to call. So what are you talking about?!? And when there is a free demo, how can you complain about not getting a refund? Well that's just my take.
My advise, try the demo. If you like, then the price is fair for what it does.
Cons: Only one, sort of... There is an optional add-on called Premium Service. I think $8.95/month is a bit high for what it does. Would gladly pay $40/year though. Just a thought guys, consider lowering your price you'll get more customers :-)

"Very slow in Expolorer - needs constant patching in Firefox"
Pros: None. The cons of other users have been verified!
Cons: WARNING: Don't pay for this product. You must check your ip in another browser everytime you use it or you may not be hidden. Using this product is going back to dial-up internet service. Look for free alternatives such as Torpark.com which can also be used on a usb keychain.

"Disappointing, Not As Reliable As Expected"
Pros: The basic functions of the program offer a good degree of flexibility in terms of setting IP masks. These features are easy to set and use.
Cons: Having bought the Premium service, I have been very disappointed with its performance. Often, a US-based IP is unavailable (despite the message stating that this is a rare event). Switching to select any IP often leads to very slow Internet performance. It is regularly the case that, when browsing, sites will not accept traffic from the routing server selected by the software (even if US-based). As a result, I find that I have to cancel the fake ID and return to my assigned IP simply to be able to navigate effectively. This, of course, defeats the object of using Hide-My-IP. Unless performance substantially improves, I shall not be renewing the subscription.

Version: Hide My IP 1.8
"LOTS OF PROBLEMS. Poor refund policy - only 24-hrs, NOT 30-days!!!"
Pros: The control box is nice, but that is all.
Cons: SLOWS the browser before every page access.
I cannot access common pages at all like abc.com or cnn.com. They are just blank until I bring up the HideMyIP control and hit the STOP HIDING IP button. Only then will the site immediately appear.
Some webpages will come up as "Page not found" until turning off the Hidden IP.
This software has a lot of difficulty locating a U.S. site, especially one with a secure connection and hardly ever during peak times. It tell you to uncheck U.S. site required. So, many times your IP is located in China or Japan. Google appears in CHINESE.
Continually tries to change the HiddenIP even though that option box is not checked. When it cannot find a new IP address, it interrupts you with an alert box (every time) telling you that it is keeping the old IP.
After 17 days of purchase, I emailed their contact address (they do not offer a phone#) to describe the problems and request a refund. They replied "it is not our policy to issue refunds", even though it appears that they have a page describing a nice 30-day guarantee. It is a trick. Read it carefully---especially Paragraph 2-it is actually only 24-hrs. Be careful.

Version: Hide My IP 1.8
"Beware the hidden cost of "Premium Service""
Pros: The program works great when you pay the extra for Premium Service (above and beyond the purchase price). The don't tell you about this until after you've bought it though. They give you a few days trial of the "Premium Service" and while you've got it, this program is excellent. The problem is, without paying extra for the "Premium Service", the program is barely usable unless you have all day to wait on your connections. And I do mean all day.
Cons: I have a cable modem and I can connect to most sites (cnn, csm, etc.) in one to two seconds. With HidemyIP running with the "Premium Service, it's not much different. If you don't purchase the premium service, however, it's more like 45 seconds or longer for each page change. It's really frustrating when companies do this kind of thing. They should price the thing at whatever their required price point is and make it usable without hidden costs.
