CNET Editors' review
If you frequently use Outlook on your desktop and Google Docs for Web-based documents, the Harmony Outlook add-on for Google Docs offers the best of both worlds by pinning the "cloud" to your desktop. When in Outlook, Harmony will display your Google Docs in a sidebar. From here, you can open, read, edit, share, and create new documents. There are other benefits, too, like turning desktop files into new Google Docs from the Harmony sidebar, and dragging and dropping a Google Doc into an e-mail as either a link (the regular dragging action) or as a physical attachment (by pressing the Alt key while dragging.) Harmony also adroitly uses the built-in Google Docs conversion engine to save the files you drag from the Harmony sidebar to the desktop in your preferred format.
Harmony still has its moments of discord, however. Creating new documents wasn't instantaneous, and only some but not all of our Google and Microsoft Exchange contacts populated the recipient suggestions box when we went to share a document, even though Harmony uses each service's APIs (it's possible you may have more luck).
We're all for add-ons that simplify our workflow, and Harmony's beta scored high points for keeping our work centered in one location: the Outlook in-box. However, piling on the add-ons can slow down your PC's performance, so we'd only recommend the Harmony add-on for those who spend significant time with Google Docs.
Publisher's Description
From Mainsoft:
Free software for Microsoft Outlook makes Google Docs easy-to-use, with full-featured access to your Google documents. Locate, share, and work on Google documents quickly and easily, directly from an Outlook sidebar. Drag documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and PDF files to the Harmony sidebar to upload them to Google Docs. Drag Google document links to an e-mail message, and Harmony will automatically share the documents with selected recipients from your Outlook and Gmail address books as you send the message. Recipients can view and edit the documents on Google Docs using a free Google account. Work on Google documents from Outlook: organize documents in folders; or star, rename, or hide them. Open and edit documents in Outlook, and export the documents into various popular file formats. Search your entire collection of Google documents from the Harmony search bar, and locate documents using views, folders, sorting, and starred documents.

"Has saved me many hours every week..."
Version: Harmony for Google Docs 1.0 beta
Pros
I find Harmony to be a complete solution for a task that took up many hours of my time every week.
Cons
None so far.
Summary
I use Google Docs primarily as an emergency back-up system, but also to share spreadsheets with vendors and customers and the upload process was never smooth for me (unknown reasons). NOW, however, everything couldn't be easier or more intuitive.
I really like the look of Harmony as it displays in Outlook and it is fully customizable so I have made it fit in perfectly with how I like my display. You can minimize it easily in your view and then expand it quickly as needed and then your docs, spreadsheets and presentations are right there with no searching or scouting about for them required. All the tools you could want are right there in Outlook.
I believe Harmony is intended to be used as a way to move e-mailed attachments to Google docs easily and I have tried this and it works well, but for me, just being able to quickly make a daily spreadsheet upload of my very most important docs and daily orders to vendors is worth well, a heck of a lot.
I have used it for about a week with no crashes, glitches or any negatives at all -completely rare in my opinion for any software, and so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this program to anyone who uses Google Docs and Outlook.
Weirdly enough, Outlook has been running better since I installed Harmony - perhaps it changed some setting somewhere or updated something, but it is a very noticeable improvement in all ways. -
"Great app for Outlook/Google Docs power users"
Version: Harmony for Google Docs 1.0 beta
Pros
1. Winning concept: Collaborate by sharing links, not attachments
2. Full week of constant use and no glitches/crashes at all.
3. Dead simple drag-and-drop functionality.
4. Everything in one place: Outlook.Cons
1. Not yet compatible with newest version of Google Docs; works fine with old Docs.
2. Takes up valuable screen real estate on Outlook.
3. Some advanced settings and functionality are not well explained; fine-tuning takes trial and error.Summary
We still live in a Microsoft Office world, so don't expect to use Harmony as a replacement for traditional document attachments among people who are not Google Docs users. (I've tried, and basically the response is, "Huh? Can't you just send me a Word document?") But if Outlook is your Mission Control Panel AND your organization or collaboration network uses Google Docs, Harmony is definitely worth a strong look.
