Version: Hanzi Explorer 8.6
"Most comprehensive Chinese character reference I've seen"
Pros: I have tried several Chinese character software tools, but this is one of the most comprehensive. It has two features which I find very unique. First the stroke order feature shows not only the order of the stroke, but also the direction of the stroke. Direction of the stroke is also very important in writing characters. Second, its dictionary captures the polyphones of the characters. Most characters only have a single pronunciation, but many commonly used characters have multiple tones. The dictionary seems to accurately present the correct pronunciation of the character when used in a polyphonic word.
Cons: The user interface is quirky and non-intuitive. At first the software appears to be dysfunctional, because the user-interface is so strange. But once you get used to the authors quirks, then its really amazing.
