Another one of those free programs that just work. Easily converts video files into files that Itunes and Iphone/Ipod's can recognize and play. For those who own apple products and dislike the giant heel of Apple (AKA me) and want there home videos/movies to play on there apple device, this program does the job very nicely. Pitty thats all it does....

A little tricky to use at first. Just leave the defaults as they are until you understand the changes you are making.

This software came highly recommended by many and I can see why. It just works. That is sometimes a difficult claim with free software. I have not used it a whole lot yet but when I do I am confident that I wont have to "baby sit".

It works, Audio is perfect (a major problem with most converters), and video is just as clear as on the DVD. And, it's FREE! :)

It could be a little more user friendly, and convert to more formats.

I couldn't get it to work correctly.Summary
This program seemed to be what I was looking for: free & easy to use. Well, evidently free still comes at a cost -- I couldn't seem to get it to work correctly! It would rip the first 1.3 hours of a TV movie that I have on DVD fine, but after that point the sound disappeared for some reason. I tried 3 different movies, but all had the same result. Additionally, I could find any reason for the number of files that were created -- one movie generated 3 different files, one created 2, & the third movie was all in one file.

Works on .m4v...I think. Sorry, but it works on some, but not AVI or .mkv.

You'll need Free Video Converter v2.9.0.0 for .mkv to .mp4. And another for AVI to .mp4. There are free ones out there that are safe, but watch out for some that are questionable. I always trust download.com software; others I look up on Google groups to see if there's a scam. Also, many claim to be free but are come ons. These are good to load videos onto your Droid, which only seems to work with .mp4.

I was working with Handbrake to convert myDVDs into a playable Mpeg4 format... now thats fine but it took 9 hours to do one 2 hour film...
Not impressed. Enough said.
