Editors' reviewThis parental-control tool lacks a few important features but offers a good level of security. The easy-to-use interface prominently displays a calendar that lets you easily view logs from selected days. You can choose to monitor Web-surfing history, keystrokes, e-mail activities, and IM clients, and Guardian Monitor Classic also records screenshots of PC activities as specified intervals. However, there were a few notable omissions, including the ability to block specific sites and to send e-mail reports if your child enters a prohibited word. In our tests, the app did its job well, although it failed to record our Yahoo Messenger chats. With one exception, Guardian Monitor Classic is nearly impossible to detect. You can't uninstall the program using the Add/Remove Programs function, and the app installs itself in a tough-to-detect area of your hard drive. You can password-protect the program, run it in stealth mode, and disable the message alerting users they are being monitored. However, savvy kids might be able to detect the utility via the task manager, as we did. Though not 100 percent foolproof, Guardian Monitor Classic gives parents and system administrators a competent tool for tracking user behavior.
Ever wonder what your child is doing online? Guardian Monitor Classic will let you find out in complete detail. Our software allows you to monitor just about everything that happens on a PC and the Internet, recording instant messages, websites, keystrokes, and video.
Version 9.75 includes improved recording ability to monitor the latest internet applications.
