Google Maps for mobile is a free download that lets you view maps and satellite imagery, find local businesses, and get driving directions on your mobile device. Since the application is designed for users on-the-go, it provides features like click-to-call and saved search history that are especially useful for mobile phone users. (US only)
Note: Maps for mobile works with most Java-enabled (J2ME) mobile phones offered by Cingular and Sprint, and all color BlackBerry devices regardless of carrier. At this time, Local for mobile doesn't work with Nextel, T-Mobile or BREW-enabled phones (e.g. Verizon, Alltel, U.S. Cellular), or Palm devices.

Excellent maps and directions, looks very good on my Palm TX handheld.
Cons
The program could a killer app. except for huge feature missing: the ability to save data for off-line use. I use a Palm TX. As soon as I'm out of a wi-fi spot, I'm dead in the water. Too bad, can't figure out why they didn't think about including so basic a feature. It kills the usefulness of the program.

I was distressed when I couldn't load my google maps from my laptop to my palm Treo 700p using hot sync or SD card.

My Razor v3xx phone constantly keeps asking me permission for google to access data network. But that looks like it is from phone part not Google software.

Ability to locate places and get directions wherever you have a data signal for your Blackberry!! Ideal for those who travel in downtown areas a lot. That's cool, but there's more...
The real-time traffic data showing average speeds on interstates is a great time saver and is more reliable than worthless radio station bulletins. The data is missing or out-of-date occasionally but by and large this is the best traffic information available (if you live or travel through a large city).
Others here have complained about it being slow. This is a function of your phones data speed not the application. With broadband speeds coming available on cell networks we can look forward to this being more and more useful.

Traffic data is occasionally out of date.
Having to press ALT and # to get the traffic data is awkward to do with one hand. Why not 'T' for traffic !?!

The detail that this app has is awesome. I use it mostly on my sony clie, and have now added to my cell. I LOVE the Satellite option; I've viewed landmarks like STONEHENGE, Athens and The Colluseum!! I highly recommend this software!!!!!!!
