Version: GoodSync 7.1.9
"Must-Have Back-Up Software, But It Is NOT Free"
Pros: From Siber Systems, creators of Roboform, comes another piece of how-did-I-ever-live-without-it software. I bought a 500GB external drive to back up my business and personal data, and then went in search of the perfect software to keep it backed up. I tried literally 30 different programs; this was the only one that did what I wanted and was reliable at doing it.
It was very important for me to be able to simply retrieve what I wanted from my back-up location without having to use the back-up software itself to "restore" folders and files, which is cumbersome. GoodSync does that.
I almost didn't try this software because of its name. While it is designed to actually synchronize files between two drives, if you only want it to back-up one way, you can set it up that way.
Cons: Interface is less intuitive than many; you'll probably have to refer to the manual a little. But that's a short-term problem for a splendid long-term solution.

Version: GoodSync 7.1.9
"Good product, works well with Roboform"
Pros: Since it is from the same company, it works well with Roboform. The Roboform toolbar has a menu item that calls Goodsync to sync the passwords to another device. I use it to keep items in sync on my computers at work and at home, transferring the files by USB drive. It also works well as a file backup tool. Another useful feature is that it can be set to run automatically when the computer shuts down, allowing me to back up my Outlook pst files at the end of the day, and I don't have to wait for it to finish. I just hit the shutdown button and go home.
Cons: I have limited space for backup at work to the network, and it would be helpful to be able to zip the files to a compressed archive.

Version: GoodSync 7.1.9
"it works for file synchonisation"
Pros: it works, its easy
Cons: it does not easily synchronise mail,as it needs to copy the whole big ile, not hte individual messages. So one message changed can mean one HUGE copy, which takes too log and is unworkable.

Version: GoodSync 7.1.9
"Fine software, but NOT free, it costs $29"
Pros: Relatively easy to use, feedback straight forward, lots of options.
Cons: GoodSync misrepresents its software as free. After a few months' use, a window pops up that indicates that the product may only be used for up to 3 sync jobs and with no more than 100 items per job (making the program useless for all practical purposes). It then stops working. My issue is not with the software or the price $29, but with the misrepresentation assuming that the user is by this time committed.

"It's a trap to make you buy the software (twice)!!"
Pros: Does a decent, but not great, of synchronize files.
Cons: I used to use this software all the time. The maker promised that they would only charge "business" users and that personal and educational use would be free. But they have recently slapped so many restrictictions that you almost have to buy the full version. I did that, and then did I find out that I had to buy a separate version for each computer I want to use it on. So that means you really have to buy 2 (!!) applications. It's not worth the hassle, and I feel that their advertising were highly deceptive. Look elsewhere for a sync'ing application.
