"Good program but has an irritating characteristic"

by IonutRadu on July 21, 2006

    Pros: Does everything as described.

Cons: Leaves a system folder named "_SYNCAPP" (with a file on each folder's file info) in every single folder being synchronized. You cannot disable this. It's part of the program's "algorithm", according to the developer. Personally, I don't want extra system folders all over my computer. I'd rather use a different program that doesn't leave any of these system folders, like SyncBack for example.

    "Does what it says. Perfection."

by tjWart on December 28, 2006

Pros: Is quick and convenient (just like it claims to be).

Easy to use: with pop-up help as soon as you open the program.

With 2-3 steps you will have your data synchronised between two different folders (personally I use it to synchronise my USB Flash Stick with my Home Computer).

Cons: I have found no cons; but will post a reply to this comment if I do (as I don't know if CNet allows comment editing yet: 28Dec06).

    Version: GoodSync 4.6.1

"It works, but contrary to the description it has limitations in the free version"

by greendemiurge on December 8, 2006

Pros: It functions very well, actually tracking when you delete or move items unlike syncback. It does a great job with ambiguity, giving the decision to you rather than deleting or replicating without your say so.

Cons: The free version is limited, not simply to personal use.

    From the Goodsync EULA:

"Customer agrees that Good Sync Free has certain limitations, that these limitations may change over time without notice or obligation on the part of Developer. Currently, these limitations allow Customer to synchronize no more than 20000 files per 30-day period."

20,000 files sounds like a lot right? It may be for the average application, but when you are trying to keep a backup of 30 gigs of MP3's and you are always adding more you hit that limit pretty quickly and it assumes you are using the program commercially.

    "Not really free"

    by RN57 on November 14, 2006

Pros: Does what is advertised. No problems I have seen.

Cons: I am only backing up 3 folders, and I have been for MONTHS. Nothing much has changed. I consider the use to be minimal.I am NOW getting this message: [11/14/2006 10:32 AM] This is your final reminder. Measurements indicate usage in excess of typical personal requirements. Good Sync may stop working unless you obtain a Pro license key. WHAT IS UP WITH THIS?? Have they decided that the product is no longer free?
