"Company has NO telephone number / no real time help!"

August 30, 2012  |  By Registered_GoTrusted_User

 |  Version: GoTrusted Secure Tunnel 2.0.6

Pros

Unknown because they insist on payment brfore the free trial.

Cons

1) No real time help

2) No way to contact them except by email form and a 24hr response time.

3) The 1 week FREE trial is NOT free! They insist on Credit Card authorization first!

Summary

I am not buying a service from an Internet company with no phone number or business license or any other way to identify WHO they are or how to contact them if they have taken money out of your account or credit card without authorization. NO WAY!

Updated on Aug 30, 2012

I was using "GoTrusted Secure Tunnel V2.3.3.1" for less than 40mins into the so called "1 week trial", it then disconnected and will not reconnect.

Updated on Aug 30, 2012

It says "problem with your account" and "payment information needed" so much for the free 1 week trial!

"It's EasyHipeIp basically-lol-which is $30 a year"

December 30, 2011  |  By Pingchaser

 |  Version: GoTrusted Secure Tunnel 2.0.6

Pros

It works much smoother than the earliest versions of easy-hide-ip. It's actually quite impressive how effortless the gui connects and changes servers. On a Vista 64 bit or Windows 7 64 bit system the program is 10 times as smooth as the free proxies out there.
I've used both Gotrusted(paid subscription prior to Gotrusted utilizing easy-hide-ip as ip mask) and easy-hide-ip(most of the easy-hide-ip trial versions...fyi..the last 2 versions=tricky to install more than once) and can verify both developers do route traffic through their own server networks. This "practically" eliminates man-in-the-middle concerns.
I hypothesize that due to the recent televised advertisement campaign in which Gotrusted has embarked upon, that they have employeed easy-hide-ip to expand their global network footprint, as the software license agreement would include a lease on an international server network. It makes business since but I can only speculate.

Cons

The uninstall routine needs some work; sometimes the LSP configuration is missing some screws after uninstall. The ip mask works well enough but total privacy is aggravated by the way cookies and alternate data streams are handled. In fact, the email address that is used to register the software is unencrypted and repeatedly (on every new connection) displayed as the service runs. Dump the .exe while it's running(to verify it isn't exploited ofcourse) and you'll see.

Summary

In summary, it works smooth and does a more than decent job at hiding your ip address when dealing with most websites. The gui is effortless to use and well designed. There is software that can break through the ip masking routine but currently there are very few commercial servers utilizing that type of software(flash cookies and umm...[rhymes with aflowbe] make it pointless-lol).
Until all of the user's personal information is encrypted along with the proprietary code (very easy!), I can't endorse the program(easy-hide-ip) as a serious privacy protection tool.
As it takes more effort to NOT encrypt the user information, there is obviously a reason behind the privacy leak. Usually we exert effort to releave future effort or make money. Email addresses are marketable. They may also prevent registration information from being requested by subpeona.
Ofcourse the previous paragraph is basically either common sense or paranoid think-tank speculation, you decide. However, "common sense", "Occam's razor hueristics", "paranoia based intrusion detection" routines combined, equal the best security available currently. Stay safe.

"Good program, could be better"

September 16, 2009  |  By Double_Yoo

 |  Version: GoTrusted Secure Tunnel 2.0.6

Pros

Worked for me. It let me get passed a ban on an internet forum.
Doesnt seem to slow down my web surfing.
Price seems fare to me. I would use it again.

Cons

Only 2 IP addresses? Not sure but it seemed like it gave me only two IP addresses to hide behind and it randomly picked which one of the two it would use whenever I enabled the program.

Summary

I don't know if it will actually be good to use if your trying to hide from the government or something but for getting passed forum bans, etc it works fine.
I hope they give the user unlimited random IP addreses, unless I'm mistaken I was only given two to use. It would be better if it didn't use the same IP address's to hide behind. I tried for about a minute, not a very long time I know, turning off then turning on the "secure tunnel" and I noticed the same two IP address's kept popping up for me to use. Add more please or even better unlimited random IP's.

"GoTrusted is Great, Works as Promised"

September 12, 2009  |  By jfchandler

 |  Version: GoTrusted Secure Tunnel 2.0.6

Pros

Hides your local IP, replaces it with one of their server locations, which can be in the U.S. or Europe, based on your settings. Bypasses censorship by various ISPs and countries. Secures your connection when using WIFI. Easy to install and run.

Cons

Not much except using its servers seems to slow my connection, With my own local DSL, I get a 2 mb. When I switch to GT, that drops to about 1 mb. But I am using the program outside the U.S. Not sure if it would be same for U.S. users

Summary

Most of the gripes above are pretty much unfounded. I've been using the program for a year. I had a problem only one time when my local ISP apparently blocked the GoTrusted IP I had been using. I contacted GoTrusted, and they emailed me within 2 days with some alternate IPs. Switched to those, and the service worked fine. $5.99 a month is reasonable price for this year. Yes, they want a credit card for the trial, but..so what??? They do have the week free trial, and if you choose not to continue, your credit card is not charged. Once I tried it, I liked it, and have been a subscriber ever since.

"company doesn't seem very honest"

August 29, 2009  |  By consolidatedbits

 |  Version: GoTrusted Secure Tunnel 2.0.6

Pros

see cons below

Cons

what is so dishonest about this software company and download.com is that they state it costs $5.99. you don't find out until you try to register the trial that it costs $5.99 per month. and they want a credit card number.

"Works great to bypass firewall. CNET please review."

August 17, 2009  |  By grunlowen

 |  Version: GoTrusted Secure Tunnel 2.0.6

Pros

I am stuck in a hospital for 3 weeks, and their firewall sucks! No streaming audio, no video...nothing but CNN and the like. I tried some proxy servers, but no luck. This program did the trick though. I am now bypassing the hospital firewall.

Cons

Minor gripes:
I want CNET to do a full review to find out how secure it is.
I had to reconnect a couple of times.
The trial requires a credit card.
I had to have a friend on the outside sign me up, because the gotrusted site is blocked from here.

Summary

It works, and I can bypass the IT goons here at the hospital. I have been using for several days now, and besides having to reconnect a couple of times, it works like a charm.

If I was absolutely positive my data was secure (CNET please do a review) then I would have to say that this program is awesome. Even if I just use it to get around firewalls though, it is totally worth the $5.99/month.

"Not a bad product, Customer Service needs help.."

June 23, 2009  |  By swaken2006

 |  Version: GoTrusted Secure Tunnel 2.0.6

Pros

Fast, good for browsing (I haven't tried P2P) and integrates well with Firefox
$9.95 per month for basic service

Cons

Slow turnaround on trouble reports
Service drops intermittently

Summary

I've been a customer for about five months and have had a number of difficulties. The biggest was a sudden refusal by the client software to set up an HTTP tunnel. After three weeks of e-mails (average 2-4 days to respond), they finally changed the default port on the server (you can't do it yourself) and I was back in business.

The other problem was caused by simply neglecting to apply a payment, cutting me off on a Friday. Shouldn't be a big issue, but my previous experience had shown that Customer Services didn't work on weekends. Fortunately somebody in Sales responded to my e-mail on Saturday and I was back on line in a few hours. Perhaps Customer Service should take a lesson in customer retention from Sales.

Now, even as I write this review, the service is down (apparently hard).

All in all, it's a pretty good service when it works and a pain if you have a problem. I guess it's the balance between subscription revenues and the cost of support labor, and the jury is still out for me.

"Very fast, anonymous, cheap but not easily configurable"

June 14, 2009  |  By z01011980

 |  Version: GoTrusted Secure Tunnel 2.0.6

Pros

I have used Anonymizer Total Net Shield for years, and this product is so much faster. Also, it's month to month vs. annual subscription. Many users may like the fact that it puts all traffic through the proxy but...

Cons

...I want to control when a browser, etc. uses the proxy or not. They have almost no support documentation on their website. I hate having to turn it off in order to direct connect. Would like to use foxyproxy in Firefox to turn it on or off.

Summary

It is lightening fast vs. Anonymizer Total Net Shield, cheaper, and month to month. Very easy to set up (no client software), but it puts everything through proxy. I'd like more control.
