You get more than just three wishes with this reliable, full-blown backup utility. Genie Backup Manager Professional allows you to easily store files on CD or DVD, tape drives, or even transfer to remote locations using FTP. All archives are password-protected and can be easily compressed. The user inteface isn't the best designed and may be intimidating for the casual user, but once this hurdle is overcome, it's evident how useful this application is. Additional plug-ins help you not only store files, but also keep copies of Registries, Windows settings, and profiles of many popular utilities such as Mozilla Firefox, Trillian, or Total Commander, as just a few examples. Advanced users can even create their own backup scripts. What's more, we were happy to see the addition of extra tools to help you wipe or encrypt files. Overall, this is a very good backup program that should be of great use for experts and amateurs alike.Publisher's description

"Reliable fast simple Backup & System/Disaster Recovery"
Pros: Reliable; Tested successfully on 2 laptops; XP Pro 32-bit, and Vista Premium 64-bit. Fast; Disaster Recovery on USB HD in 3:42 hrs (250 GB/90 GB used), DVDs in 4:18 hrs. Simple; Backs up documents, music, and pictures, and also critical system files
Cons: Could not backup on Dual Layer DVD
Summary: Many programs do backup, others do System Recovery. But the ones that do both with comforting reliability, speed, and simplicity are very few. Out of the 3 I tried; Genie Backup Manager Pro 8 stands out with shiny stars.
