Gems With Friends Free for iOS is social puzzle game that uses drag-and-drop gems to rack up points against your opponent. We loved the game's simple, but strategic gameplay, and found it very addictive.
To begin, you can log in with either your Facebook account or with your e-mail address. For new users, logging in with either will create a new account where you can select your username. We loved the quick introduction that walks you through a sample game. After going through each tip, we felt we had a good handle on how to play the game. Gems With Friends' premise is pretty simple: Drag highlighted gems to the board. Match three or more gems to get another gem, which automatically appears on the board. The gems have numbers on them, which add up to big points as you successfully make matches. Each match gives you a star, which gives you bonus points. The points disappear if you take too long on the board. Power gems act as wildcards that you can use in case you don't have a matching gem to play. Once you start a game, you're asked to find friends on Facebook to play, or you can have the game find a random opponent, which is what we opted to do. We jumped in and started dragging and dropping gems to the board as quickly as we could before time ran out. Once our time ran out, it was our opponent's turn do the same. A notification appeared on our iPhone once it was our turn to play.
Yes, you're bombarded with ads on some of the game's screens, but, hey, it's free. Gems With Friends is one of those mindless, but fun games that you can easily get lost in for hours. We highly recommend it for all users.
