Although it's not the prettiest program, GIF Movie Gear provides decent functionality for creating GIF animations. The application includes a basic graphic editor, although you won't find ready-made effects or automatic animation. Frames are shown as a sequence, not in a real time line, which makes editing long animations difficult. However, you will have no difficulty setting animation delays, swapping images, or changing the palette. You can import JPEGs, GIFs, or AVIs as source files. The program converts quickly, turning AVIs into animated GIFs in seconds, even for 1MB files. The utility also provides solid capabilities for Internet optimization, such as crop and resize or reducing the amount of colors. The optimization dialog box displays current size and possible savings, but it doesn't let you preview the optimized animation. If you already have a good graphics editor, GIF Movie Gear suffices.

Out of all the junkware out there this one will do the job you need. It is precise, fast, concise and small - does what it needs to do, nothing more nothing less. Correctly encodes/decodes alpha layered images (multipage PNGs, icons etc). It is so good it should be shipped with some editions of Windows by default. A must have tool for a serious designer. Other competing tools are more or less kids toys compared to this.

It's easy to use. I've created dozens of signature tags, and in combination with Paint, Photo Editor, and Word, I've used all types of fonts and sizes superimposed on all kinds of animated graphics.
Cons
You must be careful when you save, or you'll save inidividual frames instead of an animated gif.
Summary
I love it. I don't buy many programs, but I'm glad I bought this one. It does exactly what I wanted.

This program is very easy to use and I found it useful in making animated images. This is one of the few programs out there that can make APNG`s. I can do anything that I needed to do to my GIF/APNG animation such as resize, crop, rearrange etc...
Cons
The only thing I didn`t like was the fact that you have to resize BEFORE optimizing. If you optimize first and then resize, you get strange pixels in your animation.
Summary
This is a great tool for anyone interested in making animated GIF/APNG`s. I was a beginner when it came to making animated pictures but in minutes I could make animations. You can use this program to do basically anything you may need to do in an animation. Resize, Crop, Optimize, Ping-Pong animation, timing between frames. My favorite thing about this program is the ability to make APNG`s. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in animated pictures.
