CNET Editors' review
Freemake Video Converter is an application mainly for converting video files to other formats, but offers other converting and downloading features as well.
This application is a worthwhile download. The layout is very simple, making it easy to understand how to use it. Freemake offers a row of media buttons at the top and bottom of the window, which are labeled clearly and are simple to use. It is very easy to navigate the various steps required to convert videos and audio as well as download videos and audio from the Internet. The waiting time varies from one conversion job to the next, depending on the size and type. Converting a t3-minute audio file to MP3 can be done in less than a minute, while converting a 15-minute video to WMV can take over an hour and a half.
The program's Help pages are very good. The tutorials come with a short video as well as images which are very easy to understand. There seem to be a lot of hidden gems in this converter as well, such as a few editing features for videos and the ability to add subtitles to your videos when you rip them from your DVDs. You can also convert photos and have plenty of conversion options.

"Freely uninstalled"
Version: Freemake Video Converter 3.0.2
Pros
Nothing extraordinary
Cons
Bad result in the very first trial. Had to abandon it.
Summary
No download from CNET. You are diverted to their website for downloading the 22 to 30 MB program. Who knows how safe it is ! AVAST warned against it, and opened it in the Sandbox. Download was fast on my broadband, but installation of NET4 was time consuming.
The very first trial of converting a WAV file to MP4 was enough to assess the performance of the entire pack. A song of 2-minute-20- second's duration in WAV format was tried for conversion to MP4. It took 33 minutes and 39 seconds to convert that single file. When a file is added for conversion, there is an option to play it before proceeding. It was a screechy and noisy playback accompanied by mute pulses. I don't know if such a slow process is caused by AVAST's Sandbox. However, I did not want to take any further risk. So, uninstalled Freemake! -

"Great package for conversions."
Version: Freemake Video Converter 3.0.2
Pros
Output is as good as any conversion software I have seen before. Easy to use, large number of formats available.
Cons
A bit on the slow side, but that is easy to live with considering that it's free, conversions are high quality, easy to use, vast array of conversions to choose from and did I mention, it's free!
Summary
Great package that has replaced my other software (including free and bought and paid for applications) for video conversions. I also recommend the other software from FreeMake.

"Works Great!!!"
Version: Freemake Video Converter 3.0.2
Pros
Has just about every format you need to convert audio and video. What's best is the joining files together featiure to make audio or video files from YouTube with multiple parts together as 1 file.
Cons
Wish they would put all their products together into 1 package. I also have FreeMake Audio Converter and Downloader, 3 seperate apps. Need to rebundle all 3 into 1. Can't download from Wolfgangs Vault.
Summary
Overall a great product, no problems. Easy to paste URL's from YouTube.

"Needs net framework 4"
Version: Freemake Video Converter 3.0.2
Pros
small install size?
Cons
After installing net framework 1,2,and 3 plus ALL THEIR UPDATES AND PATCHES, i refuse to download 4 and all its patches, service packs and updates. Never liked the introduction of the net framework to begin with. Can you say bloatware? And the time it takes to install all the patches, updates, and service packs. FOREVER. ALMOST enough aggravation to make a person switch to Linux.
Summary
I'll wait until my browsers don't function before installing Net framework 4+++.
