Lightweight and effective, this program is a great way to convert video files from Flash formats into something useful beyond Web pages. Specializing in formats meant for portable devices, Free FLV Converter also supports AVI and can download embedded SWF or FLV vids directly from the Internet when you punch in the URL.
The app can also perform local searches for vids as well as convert to FLV. Hitting either conversion tab will automatically open a file browser so you can choose your victim. From there, a conversion window opens up, and you can change the basics such as settings, including output format, quality, and destination directory, as well as more advanced options like the codec, aspect ratio, and the frame rate. Tap convert at the bottom of the window when you're ready, and the Free FLV Converter works smoothly and without interfering with other programs.
Free FLV Converter does have one annoyance: When you install it, be sure to opt out of the Dealio toolbar. It's no more than a minor drawback, though, and doesn't cause problems later on. Seeing as how the app ran smoothly in the background, it's definitely a must-use piece of freeware.

"Good Program, Eaten Up With Adware!"
Pros: I liked the ease with which it operates. Great program.
Cons: I hated the adware. Dealio is a "search tool" full of hooks and dlls that are hard to delete from your computer. better download Hijackthis if you use this product.

Version: Free FLV Converter 4.6
"Great Program for grabbing videos"
Pros: I have been trying to grab several files of old gems off YouTube without any success until this program. Its search feature beats YouTube and you can watch the video right through the program.
I have a lot of video conversion experience and I can tell you this program is fast. Where a few videos failed I downloaded them unconverted and converted them with a sister program by the same company Koyote. It was free as well.
This is worthy of showing up in abmu if you know what that means, if not forget about it, but it doesn't need to be there.
Cons: The one drawback with the program itself is that it doesn't tell you the username of the accont in the search. I have only used it on YouTube.
As far as the adware, I try to run a tight ship. I never, ever load bundled toolbars etc. I don't care if they are google, yahoo or whatever. So far nothing has come up. There was an optional program that it almost makes it seem like it won't work without but it works fine. ...just say no.
