There are file converters for all kinds of different files, whether you're converting between different video, audio, or image formats. This might be the first time, however, that we've encountered a program that does all of the above. FormatFactory is an ambitious program that's capable of converting images, videos, and audio files between a number of different formats. Unfortunately, it's not exactly capable of delivering everything it promises.
FormatFactory has a straightforward, intuitive interface; a menu on the left lets users select video, audio, picture, or ROM Device\DVD\CD\ISO. The Advanced menu option even lets users join files together. To use FormatFactory, simply select the kind of file you want to work with, browse to your source folder, confirm the files you want to convert, and click Start. FormatFactory made pretty quick work of most of our files, but its performance wasn't flawless. At one point it inexplicably crashed as we were selecting the files we wanted to convert. When we attempted to convert an MPG to a GIF, something that FormatFactory allegedly permits, it went through the motions of processing but then revealed no actual change in the file. The program comes with a built-in Help file that's not particularly detailed but does contain screenshots to help new users navigate FormatFactory's features. If you need to convert, split, and merge files in a variety of formats, we definitely think FormatFactory is worth checking out. Just be aware that it doesn't always perform as expected.
FormatFactor installs a desktop icon without asking and leaves a folder behind upon removal.

Summary
This is my go-to tool for converting just about any file to some other format. Audio file, video files, and many others. The idea that it is completely free and not riddled with ads is just icing on the cake. I recommend this as a must-have for all users.

The program installed OK, and seemed to have quite a range of features. I successfully converted a couple of flv videos to mp4 format, but did not test the full range of its possible functions.
Cons
The user interface lacks some basic features:
1) a "Cancel" button in its function windows. Lately there seems to be an annoying programming trend to omit that button in favor of simply clicking the "X" in the upper right corner.
2) the button to start a process is somewhat camouflaged when it should be immediately obvious.
When I tried to join two video files, FormatFactory crashed and I got the dreaded message, "FormatFactory has stopped working." Maybe it didn't like the fact that I had set up its output folder to an external USB hd and tried to join two files residing on another external USB hd. I had to reboot to delete the temporary files it had placed in the output folder.Summary
Some have said it installs an undesired toolbar. I have become quite aware of seemingly innocuous installation scripts that, in times past, one could click through with little thought. All in all, FormatFactory was not what I expected, and therefore not what I wanted. I uninstalled it. I like iVideo Converter's GUI even less; even so, I'm going to give it a chance to do what FF could not.

It does everything it promises. Especially useful for simple users wishing to convert wma to mp3 or any kind of pic to jpeg. However it is capable of all types of conversion(sound. video,photo)

There's a hidden toolbar Ask.com which will be installed if you're not careful. Solved the problem by finding it in the istalled files,during installation not after, right clicking on it and opting it out

All in all it's a very reliable tool and easy to use provided to get rid of the annoying software
