"Good viewer with unique features"
Version: ForceVision 3.10.2
Pros
Lastest version is 3.35.1, still free.
Even though there are lots of free image viewers out there, and I use faststone and xnview intensively, I still think this is something worth to keep tracking. It has some unique features.
1. The 1.33M install file gives me options to determine where to install and where to put the program group -- programs like faststone always break my start menu organization.
2. It starts faster than both faststone and xnview. Moreover, it is free for personal use, but unlike many other noncommercial freeware, you need not register. During the installation and when start the program, my jetico stays silient -- means it don't even force you to visit the website.
3. It support 40 formats. They website looks neat. And you can leave message.
4. It has a browse window and a view/edit window, you don't need to switch to access the editing function, this is better than xnview, also is more convenient than gimp/paintstar.
5. As an image viewer, it offers several selection options -- square, elliptical, polygonal, lasso and wand, most of which is not available in either faststone or xnview, neither does ifrnview has.
6. Red eye remove, crop, rotate, ..., almost all the standard operation you can get from faststone. Besides, some effect filters, looks as many as xnview, however, something more than xnview. They even have the function for a FFT:)
Cons
1. Some effect has no control options.
2. The button in the view window is hand to understand at the first use.
3. The file list window need some more column to be displayed (or have the option), like file size, date, and so on.
Anyway, compared to the most popular viewers, this is small (infrview need 5.5M plugin for some edit filters) and powerful. I will keep it in my list.
