Editors' Review
This video downloader successfully downloaded video files from our favorite Web sites. But it's important to note that this program simply downloads the file; you'll need to install a separate program to play the video if you don't already have a player available.
Flash Video Downloader for Firefox adds an icon to both your navigation toolbar and your status bar. It also can be found in your context menu. If a Web site is not supported by the extension, both icons will be deactivated and gray-colored. They're ready to go when the icons are blue. Downloading a video was as simple as clicking the arrow button. Once clicked, a window appeared containing the link for download. It took a minute or two to complete the download, but the file appeared on our desktop. The extension does have a hot key combination option and the capability to save downloaded files to your location of choice. Help is available through the publisher's Web site, and although we found it a little vague, it did walk us through the basic steps of downloading a file.
Once we downloaded the video file, we were able to open it in our default video player. This no muss no fuss video downloader is pretty basic and easy to operate, making it perfect for novices.
