This overly complex IE replacement isn't worth the effort of the program's steep learning curve. FineBrowser's busy interface holds typical controls to refresh the page, navigate back and forth, and stop a page from loading. FineBrowser requests to be your default browser until you deselect the option on the program startup dialog window. As a pop-up blocker it certainly offers numerous extras. Unfortunately, while a number of controls clutter the toolbar, not all of them worked in our tests.
The options to save images, turn off flash, and turn off images didn't always work. The first one initiated a new window but the images couldn't be found in the program's directory or Windows' default directory My Pictures. It would sometimes turn off images, but sometimes not, and flash continued to work even after a refresh. There are a host of settings that can be managed, but they'll probably make you long for the simplicity of IE or Firefox.
And as far as its primary job of blocking pop-ups, it did eliminate those pesky windows, but the program didn't list them as promised and it didn't notify us when they were blocked. With effective pop-up blockers standard fare in most browsers, there's really no need for what this relatively expensive 30-day trial program promises to do. As for the few working extras, they're more trouble than the time it will take most users to learn how to use them.
