This well-crafted, standalone newsreader makes an ideal choice for both novices who've never heard of an RSS feed and advanced users looking to put some oomph and flexibility into their reading habits.We particularly liked FeedDemon's setup wizard, which allows you to subscribe to an unlimited number of popular RSS feeds by simply checking boxes. The program also provides links to several other RSS directories.
FeedDemon's interface is very good, but its default setting, which places the headline and browser panes side by side, is somewhat clumsy. This is easily remedied with the buttons that sit right at the top of each folder and each item. The utility's Watch Channels feature searches for news items containing user-specified keywords and places them in a separate group so they're easier to find. We're also fond of the app's News Bins function, which allows you to archive a story simply by dragging a headline and placing it in a storage bin in the left-side column.
Another compelling feature is the integrated podcast manager, which will automatically send new podcasts to your music jukebox. There's a support forum where you can post questions and get answers from other users, and Newsgator has a free webware client so you can check your feeds wherever you are. We strongly recommend using FeedDemon to soothe your hunger.

Pros
I love this program! Using it is much like using Outlook or Thunderbird. I like to keep Outlook organized with subfolders, and I can do that in this program, too. Plenty of customization options as well. On my relatively new computer, this program loads very quickly as well. I recommend this program!

"Great for RSS-Beginners"

Pros
I downloaded a bunch of RSS readers to see which one that I preferred, and this was the best one of the lot. Very simple to install and comes with a variety of pre-installed feeds, but also very easy to add your own. It tracks your frequency of visited feeds to help you determine which ones you can eliminate in order to keep it streamlined.
Cons
It would be nice to have a 'Launch at Startup' option in the preferences, but for a free program, that is hardly a complaint.

I love being able to sign up for all kinds of feeds - on all sorts of subjects, and watch Feed Demon handle them so adeptly. You pick, choose and discover your favortie pieces of the vast Internet .They are right in front of you, updated, ready and in place, whenever you are. Highly customizable - you can have Feed Demon hold onto the last 1250 entries of Boing Boing if you want, for example, and check for new stuff every 5 minutes instead of the default. For sites like Flickr, the photographs come to YOU. It is my favorite thing to do now while online.
