While EXPStudio Audio Editor Free doesn't offer a tenth of the features of a full-fledged audio package, it's a snap to learn and it is indeed absolutely free.
We like how the program window conveniently arranges the controls. Under the hood, you'll find support for most popular audio formats, as well as a recorder, cut/paste tools, essential effects (fade-in/out, reverb, changing tempo, and pitch), and filters (low-pass and high-pass). The Marker tool lets you store any number of selected audio fragments. However, you can't mark a time point, only a fragment. The program can only save audio as uncompressed WAVs or MP2s.
Unfortunately, you can only work with one file at a time. On balance, then, EXPStudio Audio Editor Free seems best suited to home users with quick and dirty music-editing needs.

Version: Expstudio Audio Editor Free 4.29
"A real jewel hidden in a jungle of junk"
Pros: A great program for cleaning up self recorded audio files. There is a lot in this program than can be learned.by an amateur. Most of it is simple to understand once tried but it takes time time to learn & master. The pros will have an easier time with this program. My 1st attempts to clean up some self-recorded guitar pieces were a stuuning surprise at how good I sounded playing the guitar..

"User friendly, but with a slight drawback"
Pros: This is a very easy to use program for editing music as well as recording with a microphone or headset. I use it mostly to fade out the end of songs that end abruptly or that have other sounds at the end of songs. I also use it to practice voice recordings, and it works well.
Cons: The only fault I find with this program is that it only saves files as wav. To fix this, I also downloaded SC Audio converter because it will batch convert to mp3 very quickly.
