This basic encryption/decryption tool camouflages messages in image files, but trial restrictions make it difficult to test. EnCrypt/DeCrypt Graphic's austere interface is thankfully easy to understand. EnCrypt/DeCrypt Graphic scores points as a noninstalling executable, but loses them by failing to display images in that simple interface. We like how quick and easy it is to encrypt. Of course, it could be fast simply because the trial limits users to a 15-character message. It is easy to choose an image to use to hide the message, but the preview windows failed to display any of our images. The program boasts of several encryption methods, including Blowfish, DES, Triple DES, and Rijndael. Encrypted images sent as e-mail attachments would appear as simple pictures, but recipients must install the program and possess the correct password to retrieve the message. Unfortunately, users can't change the default trial password. The trial restrictions make it difficult to accurately test EnCrypt/DeCrypt Graphic's encryption speed and effectiveness. Anyone looking for an image-based encryption tool should test a less restricted program.
