"Years of refinement and improvement; a good product."
Version: Eloquent 2.4
Pros
Access to many versions of Bibles and many other Christian resource books to include the tomes of Luther, Calvin and Augustine.
Cons
What's not to like? This is FREE, usable and it doesn't crash. I've watched this product grow for years and it is part of my daily computer use. Of course you cannot access the proprietary editions of modern bibles except the great ESB.
Summary
Without paying hundreds of dollars, a good Bible-based library manager is not available, unless you try Eloquent. You won't' be disappointed.

"Excellent Bible Study Program and it is Free!"
Version: Eloquent 2.2.8-1687
Pros
Great interface and constantly improved on. Very responsive author and active Forum.
Large depository of free Bible modules, concordance, texts, maps etc. from CrossWire and others.Cons
No NKJ Version for licensing reasons yet.
Summary
First off it's Free, as in 'freely you received and freely give'. It's underrated, compared to another product that costs dearly. I highly recommend MacSword!

"Best Bible Study Program All Around"
Version: Eloquent 2.2.8-1687
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
was using the Mac Online Bible for a long time but find the features of MacSword better suited for comparing Bible translations. Together with the CrossWire modules it's a dream of a Bible study application.
To those attacking this application for its fitting name (maybe you should use this app to search the meaning of the word sword as God defines it in the Bible) I say, leave your unintelligent commentaries where they belong, at mental health boards. -
"Reguarlly updated, straightforward design"
Version: Eloquent 2.2.1-1201
Pros
Native Mac OS app, nice interface, good search tool.
Cons
Interface is a little 'clunky'.
Summary
Nice application, easy to use. The 'modules' interface and creating bookmarks aren't as intuitive as would be expected in a commercial 'refined' product. Searching works well, and the interface is nice. I found that googling 'macsword bookmark create' led me to some useful overviews including a review at bsreview.org.

"not a good program"
Version: Eloquent 2.1.1-481
Pros
hard to use
Cons
very annyoning

"Does what you want Bible software to do"
Version: Eloquent 1.4.3
Pros
Lots of Bible versions to choose from, several good commentaries, good concordance and word study resources. If you are looking for a basic Bible search software, this is it and the price is right.
Cons
Download is not automatic for Mac Leopard. Requires user to "manually" pick Bible versions from the website, find the right file on the hard drive, and drop them in. No biggy, but if not familiar with your file hierarchy it could be problematic.
Summary
I'm using this regularly. I like the minimal approach the software takes, although others may not. I don't like bells and whistles or proprietary design which for the sake of user ease forces me to sacrifice customization. I like to use programs the way I like to use programs. MacSword allows me to do that. I've been using it now for serveral weeks and have experienced no issues or problems.

The software is a pain to use because you have to go to their site and manually download and install the text for the app. -
