I wanted to install two copies of W7 (same licence), so I could get the new one right before I deleted the old . . . which I was told by "those in the know" you cant do because of boot manager confusion . . . or something.
Well I did it, and with this utility I can easily pick the old or new on start up. Also, the computer seems to stay in which ever W7 copy I've selected if it restarts with software updates etc. -

After spending a day for fixing the Bootmgr error! i installed a new windows 7 on my secondary hard drive and installed this in it! guess what? my problem solved within 5 min!..

dont even bother using Windows Repair from your back up DVD or whatever! or using command Prompt! if you got a secondary hard drive Simply install a new windows 7 and install this software on it! use it ! it has everything u need! it simply fixed mine!!!

EasyBCD will only work if Vista or Windows 7 is already installed. Then it works by utilizing some of either OS to perform its duties.
Summary
I am dismayed that all the material I researched spoke in very positive terms about the help I could get with dual booting, with OS installation, and with some system repairs. I have a damaged XP Professional OS running on an old Del desktop. I installed EasyBCD when XP stopped booting, When nothing on it seemed to work, I consulted the forums. That was when I found that without parts of Win 7 or Vista, the system was useless.

Summary
I was not sure what to expect from this program. I was trying to dual boot my computer between win7 and xp. It was not working very well due to the differences in win7. Installed this program and within minutes everything was working! I plan to donate. This is a GREAT little program and it saved me.

This tool could save your bootloader as you can edit your bootscreen and delete old Linux or Ubuntu listings on your Windows boot screen no longer active-
Cons
Use only for editing your bootloader and deleting old Linux partitions. Nothing else or you could accidently delete windows making your computer unusable.

You have installed Ubuntu or Linux Mint on your Windows computer/laptop but even though you have ininstalled it Linux or ubuntu is still listed and shows on the bootloader when you boot your computer. Even though you now only have Windows. And you cannot delete this unwanted ubuntu/linux listing. what do you do? Well,in order to remove the Linux heading on your bootloader you can run command prompt which is very complicated and did not work for me and you will see 2 bootloader listings Windows and linux mint. Linux Mint is no longer there so you want to remove the listing/heading but in doing so you could accidently delete Windows,making your computer unusable.
The alternative is to download EASY BCD which is this product. This is a tool that you can safely use both to edit your boot loader title or remove a heading that is no longer in use.
Let me explain better. I installed Linux mint alongside my Windows 7 but I uninstalled Linux Mint but it did not uninstall properly. So now although iIno longer have Linux on my computer when i start it. It lists WINDOWS 7 & and LINUX MINT underneath it but when I select Linux Mint it will not boot into Linux as it is no longer on my computer. So I want to remove both the Linux entry and header on my boot screen. And delete the blank disk Linux partition.
Easy BCD lets you do this without having to enter any command promps and does this safely. I selected which entry I wanted removed-LINUX MINT and which partition I wanted to remove-the Linux Mint partition. And it removed this. You can also use this tool to change your operating system name to a name of your choice. which is fun. I changed the name Windows 7 to WINDOWS which sounds better.I reccommend this tool as it solved my problem and even let me re name my Windows 7 to my own name choice.You could change the name of Windows XP or 7 to say " Andrea's operating" system or anything you want giving your computer a personal feel. I like that and most of all I like that it DID get rid of my blank boot entry. So now when i start the computer my boot screen just says Windows and does not have Linux listed or try to boot into it which gave me an error message.
A must have tool. I could not have resolved my computer problem without this. BUt do not use it for anything else but editing or deleting Linux Partitions on Windows computers or you could accidently remove Windows or some thing important. Putting your computer out of action. So it is not a toy to play around with and only use it if you have to use it. Andrea Borman. -
